Dinosaur World - Open world survival game, need feedback

Here is the link to my game:

Is there any feedback in particular that could be given? How could the game be improved, what features do you like and dislike?

While I was in the game, I overheard the players complaining about lag and spawn killers. I didn’t personally witness this. I’m not a fan of this genre so the progression was confusing for me. It was also difficult to find players, presumably because of the map’s size.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, spawn killing is an issue, and I believe making spawns more randomised should fix this.

I was originally going to make the map twice as large, as many actual games of this genre have maps about 10 times as large, however since you mentioned that it was hard to find players, I will reconsider this.

Holy! The models and animations are so realistic and detailed. You did a very good job on this, definitely leaving a thumbs up.

Also this menu design is extremely good, love the high quality screenshots, they are very realistic. Did you take them with max graphics?

Yes, max graphics were used when taking these screenshots

Just and idea but, you could avoid spawn killing if you put a grace period on a player for say… 30 seconds? So they cannot be killed and cannot kill until safe.

The UI looks beautiful and well laid-out, the environment design looks awesome (and visuals in general too). The dinosaurs are very well made and animated (though from the dinos I’ve played, the swimming animations could be a little better). Something I don’t really like about the dino design is that they aren’t really textured besides having a basic Roblox material applied to them. The dinos themselves control fairly well though I don’t like how I can’t move backwards.

Finally, I cannot possibly express how happy it makes me that the game is not named “Dinosaur Simulator” or something that has “simulator” in the name. Really well done, keep up the great work on this.

What’s the problem with naming something a simulator?

The game looks awesome! however I just feel like you need more sound to the dinosaurs like the sound of feet stomping.
I also look at this game and am amazed at how much detail is in it then something like this happens

(Dinosaur floating )
and it makes me think otherwise. But overall the game looks pretty cool and has a lot of potential. I just think you need to focus on the realism and making the dinosaur warp to the ground(I think that’s the word for it).

A tiny little problem that I don’t really like is when pressing a or d it goes forward and turns which can make the controls feel a bit weird. Other than that, it’s an amazing game. I love the realistic graphics!

It demonstrates a lack of creativity in naming and gives the game a vibe of being unprofessional and cheap. Naming something “____ Simulator” is like opening up a crummy fast food joint instead of a five star restaurant. It is simply more professional to come up with an actual name for the game.

Have you seen the amount of “simulators” succeeding on this platform? Not that I am for many more of them, but sometimes the “simulator” of a game, is all some people have in mind when they release a game.

I wouldn’t call bashing the creativity on the game-title feedback, but that’s me :man_shrugging:

Nowhere in my post did I bash the creativity of the game itself for it being named “Something Simulator”. I was merely stating that regardless of the quality and creativity of the game itself, naming it “Something Simulator” will give it a cheap, lazy, and unprofessional vibe (partly due to the usual nature of games named “simulator”). Coming up with an actual name for the game is a much better idea in my opinion.

I personally do not give games named “simulator” a second glance because I do not want to support this bad behavior in game naming.

This was my bad for overseeing the comment in regards to another post above.

I think you should actually have a script that keeps track of player proximity between spawns, and check if any of such near players have recently attacked. Depending on those factors the script would pick the spawn furthest away from any grieving players. This could be done on an onPlayerDeath event and like any other game, there are usually wait times for respawning. The script could check for all those factors during that respawn time.

Hi there, excellent game you’ve created. A small bit of feedback; the player list interferes with the GUI slightly, along with the chat possibly getting in the way. Other than that there’s nothing else that jumps out at me, it’s a very well constructed game. I look forward to seeing what it becomes.
