Tbh I prefer running it through the web on my mobile devices. I’m used to it and it looks nice in my opinion. I overly don’t need push notifications anyway. But it’d be nice if there was a dedicated roblox Devforum app. This is alright but not for me
To both @Quentisaurus and @ScriptOn there are definitely some improvements that Discourse could make but I think it serves a very good purpose. Been using it for a few days now and getting the push notifications directly on my phone allows me to respond almost instantly to people and stay up to date with the latest ‘stuff’. They also need to add a dark mode
Good point! The main reason I brought up the app to some of the staff team is because of the push notifications. I find them very useful and I’m sure some others will too!
A dedicated DevForum mobile app would be really cool.
Deffinitely! Thats the selling point for me as well. You can, however, do push notifications on web pages through the notifications api Notifications | web.dev
Notifications API - Web APIs | MDN
this is something to suggest to discourse itself, im just popping the info here for those interested
It’s actually been out for a while. I found out about it the other day only when I went on the Discourse website to just fool around and saw that there was a mobile app. Brought it to the attention of some staff shortly after
It’s a good idea, but I don’t think it’s executed too well right now (as I’m taking a first look at it).
Yeah there are definitely some changes that could be made but I really like the fact that I can get push notifications from it. Especially as a “basic user” I want to try and respond to anything as quickly as possible to ‘prove’ myself and the push notifications definitely help with that!
Promotion from basic user seems to be more about what you post, not how many you post. I think your best bet would be to take time and respond with very helpful and suggestive responses - quality over quantity. It would be awesome to have you as a member though.
Ooooooh cool!
Yeah definitely. I feel like prompt responses to things is usually worth something at least. Prompt responses and good replies
This app as been around for a while now, is everyone just figuring this out?
I notice there seems to be a bug on my Samsung Galaxy S7 this may just be me but whenever I open the application I always have to reauthorize my discourse application to read things/use my account on DevForum for me, I notice for iOS users do not need to always reauthorize the application. This may just be a bug on android, but it is cool for push notifications but then again you could just open a web browser on your phone and goto “devforum.roblox.com” and just login from there.
I think the difference with going to the devforum via a web browser on mobile is that you need to login every time (at least you do on Apple).
I use opera web browser and have my information synced from my computer with an opera account so all passwords sync to my opera browser on my phone so it just automatically logs me in on my web browser. That may just be the web browser you use on iOS or maybe its just iOS itself.
It’s the way Safari works on iOS, which could use a lot of work on its own.
Cool! Now I just need to get a phone that supports app downloading…
This feels like the Roblox app: useful in one case but not useful in many others, anyways installing it for just the notifications is fair enough!
I really hope Discourse will get a dedicated app in the future, that’d be so convenient.
There was no previous documentation of it on the developer forum.
