Revision 5093, Version 2.43.0 Released on October 11, 2019
  • Improvements

Revision 5075, Version 2.35.0 Released on August 20, 2019
  • DARF Tablet (wip)
    As announced on Discover! Aspire 2019, anyone with Experience+ have access to the tablet that displays information about temps, current status, cooling fans and more. So far, there are some rough edges with the tablet. It will get better.

  • Improvements
    We have changed the look of the Admin Database and Database hallway. Let us know what you think.

  • REP (wip)
    Another feature discussed at Discover! Aspire 2019, showing users about said performance and overall status of their actions, whether if they causes trouble or a savior. However, developers are working on this feature as most features isn’t available yet.

Other features, changes and fixes

  • Changed the logo for the elevators to reflect the new one.
  • Redesigned user tags.
  • New teleportation effect when teleporting to someone.
  • Any explosions near you, would causes camera to shake, (if shaking effect is enabled in settings.)

*Known issues

  • The mainframe status UI would overlap, causing two images such as NORMAL OPERATIONS and overheating simultaneously.
Revision 5044, Version 2.30.0 Released on July 30, 2019
  • UI updates
    There’s a new Intro animation when joining DARF Experimental. Let us know what you think.

  • More options
    We’ve added a new setting under Music where to change the intro theme to your preferred song.

  • Foods in vending machine
    Animations and functions added for items in the vending machines. In the future, you’ll be able to repair your needs when it gets to critical state.

Other features, changes and fixes

  • Fixed bug where the lobby music plays when jumping off the fan bridge.
  • Fixed an issue where the mainframe continues to emit particles after saving it from Meltdown.

There are no known issues in this revision.

Revision 5015, Version 2.10.0 Released on July 3, 2019

Obviously since developers started working on The Oceanic Update, there are LOTS of unfinished assets, and you will encounter some bugs along the way. Please report them in the Feedback section, so developers can quickly fix them in the future Revisions.

Also, parts of the announced features mentioned at the Discover! Aspire keynote, is not available for testing in this experimental revision of DARF. Developers will continue to add mentioned features in the later future.

Now, for the updates. This revision is quite small, but trust us, there will be lots of new features later on.

  • Name tags
    This feature is for people belonging in Discover! as a staff; This makes it easier for people to identify that said person is part of the staff team, and not an impersonator.

  • ShadowMap (Extremely Unfinished)
    We enabled ShadowMap; We will continue to make DARF ShadowMap ready in the future.

  • Ramps
    During the keynote, this update focuses on going outside; In this revision, you’re able to go outside. While we continue to work on new features, there’s nothing outside that are interactive yet.

Revision 5000, Version 2.00.0 Released on April 28, 2019

Release Candidate
Revision 5000 will be the gold master of the Discover! Aquatic Research Facility. As we prepare for the launch day of The Community Update for everyone, this will be the final revision for experimenters. Discover! Aquatic Research Facility - The Community Update is version 2.0. We will continue to polish up any last minute features and to fix as many issues before we launch the update for everyone.

We sincerely thank you for the experimenters who came out and test new features before launch. We hope to see you next time on the next Discover! Aquatic Research Facility feature update!

  • Donations
    We appreciate others who contributed the DARF project, (Project Aquatic) from the start. In this revision, you are able to donate said amount to our group funds, which will be using to support future projects or developments.

  • UI Refinements
    As we getting close to release the game to the public, we are making some last minute changes to the UI that reflects the same design guidelines throughout the game. We did many UI changes such as the Feedback interface, in-game UI displays, reducing UI whitespace and more.

  • Achievements
    We are working on Achievements in the game. When you earn a Roblox in-game badge, you will get an achievement automatically.

  • Temperature History
    In this revision, we added a temp history UI to keep track of previous temperature, measured in bar graph. Let us know what you think! (yes there’s a spelling mistake. It has been fixed in the final version.

  • Facility Auditorium
    For Experience+ users, they are able to control the Auditorium, whether if it’s lighting, screen or music, people with Experience+ are able to do all of that.

All features, changes and fixes

  • We’ve fixed an issue where clicking on Upgrade on the Teleport To UI to purchase Experience+ didn’t work.
  • We’ve fixed a typo at the generators.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the Teleport To UI doesn’t hide when navigating in the main menu.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where some music would play at full volume before fading volume.
  • Executing main menu buttons are more responsive and faster.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where sometimes, the main menu interface, would not play the fading animation.
  • We’ve did some logo changes; We changed all of the logo that used our old logo color type.
  • We did some improvements for the temperature system.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the ElectroPower did not activate.
  • Users should no longer remain dead during Meltdown or Arctic-Blast.
  • Improvements made with the Emotes UI.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where it’s possible to teleport to anyone while sitting; This caused the seat to follow to said player location.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where you are unable to respawn when you die if you join during a Meltdown or Arctic-Blast.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where an error would to occur in the Developer Console about “SelectedCutscene” yielding an error of a nil value.
  • We’ve fixed some of the text, in the Transit Deport which shows “Terminal” instead of “Dock”; We also changed the font style to match all of the UI.
  • The Teleport to Anyone button now tell you if you are unable to teleport to said player, or any other info.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where resetting your character re-opened the Roblox’s in-game menu.
  • We’ve changed the icon of the Countdown UI of the Meltdown or Arctic Blast to represent a timer instead a temperature gauge.
Revision 4950, Version 1.94.0 Released on April 7, 2019

Frequent Updates
As stated before, The Community Update is on its Release Preview state which there will be more frequent updates, which contains bug fixes, improvements and new features. That said, the Experimental game will close on April 21st while we focus on fixing last minute issues before we release the update for everyone.

Other features, changes and fixes

  • We did some refinements in the reactor chamber, coolant sector and transit deport.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where users are able to interact with coolant buttons during Hotshot or Coolshot scenario. (users won’t click on the buttons anymore).
  • The Cooling Fan UI now reports on the fan’s operation and speed.
  • We fixed a typo “Thirst” in the Needs UI.
  • We fixed an issue where the announcements for the “Today’s Security Code” announcing wrong codes sometimes.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where you are unable to reset your character if anyone joins during a Meltdown or an Arctic Blast.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where having the death message option disabled, activating either Emergency Coolshot or Hotshot would revert the death message option to true.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where using the Advertisement UI, clicking on Play on said advert causes an error in the Developer console about “No is not a valid member of Frame.”
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the mainframe failed to animate in the past 2 revisions.
  • Disabling High Detail setting would make it where the captions appear instead of animating.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where resetting your character caused script lag.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the vending machines gave you two cookies instead of one.
  • We fixed a emote issue where one of the animation was accidentally left in by our developers, causing you to do the animation all the time.
  • There is a new Countdown till Catastrophe music from time to time. The new one would be picked randomly.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where turning off the coolant control in Sector K, doesn’t update the coolant button at Admin Database correctly.

Known issues

  • While resetting your character, the Roblox’s In-game menu opens again.
Revision 4940, Version 1.92.0 Released on March 24, 2019

Release Preview
We are almost done with the development of The Community Update and we are now focusing on fixing bugs and polishing up new features before we release the game to everyone. The experimental place will remain open for awhile while we get some user feedback and to fix some critical bugs.

You may notice that the preview text on the bottom right corner is no longer visible, this does not mean that we are done just yet, also we added statues of the developers of The Community Update! Special thanks for the hard work and effort!

  • New Vending Machines
    The vending machines was introduced in the Emerald Update. In this revision, we have rebuilt the vending machine to have ease of use and more slots for new foods in the future.

  • Redesigned Coolant Pumps UI
    Many of you saw the new coolant UI which was in a work in progress. In this revision, those are now operating as well with many changes with the code of the coolant system in DARF.

  • Transit Deport
    We have redesigned the transit area, adding new designs that fits the Facility’s theme. We will continue to add new features soon.

  • New Music Handler
    We received feedback about music failing to play sometimes, so we decided to redo the music handler script which should now play music as told.

Other features, changes and fixes

  • By popular demand, we have added back the old music for the Hotshot Failure scenario.
  • We’ve improved some UI animations, especially the fading effect.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where some sound effects would have its volume loud at times.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the Timer on the Facility Status UI was missing and an error in the developer console saying “TimeLeft is not a valid member of Frame” 100% of the time.
  • We’ve changed the feedback interface; Useful for developers to get the latest information about the current version, revision and more.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where the icon for the Facility Status UI was overlapping the text.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where the color for the Countdown Arctic Blast was using the meltdown’s accent color instead of its intended color.
  • We’ve updated AmbientReverb to Room, giving audio more bass.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where hovering over the main menu buttons really quickly, causes the description UI to flash and causing to play rough animations.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the main menu music would continue playing when continuing the game by visiting the Credits UI.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where typing letters in the Advertising Place ID text box causes an error in the developer console.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where resetting your character causes the game to lag sometimes.

Known issues

  • Although the new music handler is in place, there are going to be some glitches with the new code. If you found any, please report them.
  • We are aware of the mainframe failing to animate. We will investigate and apply some fixes soon.
  • The allow teleportation and some options has the status_wait text. Those will be functional in a later revision.
  • Foods in vending machines doesn’t do anything just yet. We are working on items in the vending machines to work soon.
Revision 4880, Version 1.90.0 Released on February 8, 2019

The Switch of the Development Cycle
The Community Update is 95% complete. As a result, we are getting close to the end of the development cycle for The Community Update and we are now focusing on fixing bugs and adding little features and improvements later on.

  • Career and Everything game mode
    These features has been removed from the development planning of The Community Update and we have set aside these features in the future. As a result, we have revamped the Explore UI to show more information.

  • Achievements (wip)
    The Achievements will be made available along with in-game badges where users gets to find and to collect badges around the facility. More information about Achievements in the future revisions.

  • Credits
    We have worked on the Credits UI, and it is now available to be viewed in the Main Menu.

  • UI Changes (some are being worked on)
    We have changed some of the UI elements of the game that reflects the new UI elements that we have put into place during the initial launch of The Community Update. The changes reflects to the new Messages UI and the new About UI.

  • Cafe Refinements (wip)
    We have changed some of the aspects of the items in the Cafe, including the overall look and furniture. Let us know what you think by sending us a feedback!

  • Debug Mode
    The Debug mode is ideal for users who wants to report bugs with more detailed information. Enabling Debug Mode will output everything on what the client script is doing onto the Developer Console. The default option of Debug Mode is Disabled.

  • Emotes (beta)
    The Emotes are here! Choose from many varieties of available emotions to express yourself. More will come soon. (The UI is basic for now, as we will polish up the functionality soon.)

Other features, changes, fixes

  • We’ve fixed a typo in the Options UI disclaimer text.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where people who has their spawn setting set to Third Floor, the server doesn’t spawn you correctly.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the DARFClientHandler script displaying SelectedCutscene error on most users, some of the time.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where some users experienced a visual glitch where the screen would go black and won’t recover unless the user leave and rejoin the game.
  • We’ve fixed a glitch where the sliding door at the generators would cause incorrect animations.
  • Users should no longer join during the Meltdown conclusion scenario; The game would automatically shut down to prevent old servers from remaining.
  • We’ve fixed a glitch where the Mainframe Status UI shows up while navigating in the Main Menu; We also fixed the glitch where the UI would show when Emergency Coolshot scenario was playing.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where modifying the camera settings on ROBLOX during a cutscene, causes incorrect cutscene behavior.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where an error would display about a image “low” unable to load when clicking on Options.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where an error would display about a shirt unable to load in workspace.
  • Mainframe and generator sound effects will be silent during the intro or navigating in the main menu.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where in some cases, the death message text would fade out when users did not reset their character.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the Roblox’s Loading UI covering up during the intro.
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug where the letterbox wouldn’t animate, therefore only have its caption visible.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where some music would not play due to a possible music delay.

Known issues

  • The mainframe won’t animate in this revision.
  • The coolant system may fail to work most of the time.
  • The Facility Status UI won’t show the timer.
Revision 4800, Version 1.85.0 Released on January 4, 2019
  • Game Advertising
    Players can advertise their games through the in-game options GUI. Each submission are reviewed by our moderation team and staff to make sure the games are legitimate and follows the guidelines listed in the Advertising section in the options GUI.

  • More Settings
    We have added more in-game settings where players can modify their game experience. We have added the option to turn “Death Messages” off or on; We also added the option to enable instant respawn, (The instant respawn setting requires the Experience+ game pass.).

  • Reactor Refinements
    We have remade the layout for the main reactor which in the later updates, will have more functionalities and more polished look.

All Features, Changes, Fixes

  • Temperature will rise faster for testing purposes.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where you were unable to start The Arctic Blast.
  • You are unable to reset during the intro, or navigating in the main menu.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the temperature status displaying LOWEST TEMP REACHED! even with temps beyond freezing point.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the Facility Status UI displaying OVERHEATING_ALERT_MESSAGE instead of the actual message.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where you are unable to close the Facility Status UI.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the teleportation status displayed a placeholder text for a split second.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the teleportation UI wouldn’t show again if you were unable to be teleported to said game due to an error.
  • We made some improvements for the Emergency Hotshot operation, adding more effects and fixing glitches that users has reported.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where users were unable to be respawned after dying during an Arctic Blast.
  • We’ve fixed an issue where the fans for the Facility wasn’t working!
  • We’ve fixed a visual bug with the Meltdown Announcement UI animating in too quickly.

Known Issues

  • It’s possible to join a server during the Meltdown conclusion scenario where the server may not shut down properly.
  • On some occasions, users would experience a bug where the entire screen go completely black and won’t recover until said special event is finished.
  • The coolant systems are failing to work half of the time.
  • There’s a typo in the Options UI disclaimer text.
  • (Added 1/11) The last sliding door at Generators are glitched.
