My Roblox account got Terminated for making Fortnite clothing. I uploaded Fortnite clothing back in 2018 to one of the groups I found that was open for the taking. After I uploading some clothing I got tired of looking at the group so I left*(I think I was not getting any sales, so I left maybe that was the case), but I still kept the clothing for sale and I locked the group, not knowing that I could not take the clothing off sale, or delete the clothing.(big mistake)*
The First time I got the strike I got a notice that the clothing that got taken down.
Second time I got a 3 day ban, and another piece of clothing deleted.
I told Roblox in a email that I was not able to delete the clothing/take it off sale because I left the group, I even asked them to delete the group for me.
But of course no reply.
Now that I got my account terminated, I’ve been trying to get my ban appeal, and calling. but still nothing. its been like 10+ days.
If anyone out there can help a brudda out please. Also Roblox needs to fix this issue, there was literally nothing I could do in this situation.
Roblox is correct in terminating your account - you’re supposed to read the ToS when you accept it. It specifically states you cannot use copyrighted material on Roblox. This is 100% on you, there’s nothing we can do.
After the first warning I would of done something like delete the clothing, or take it off sale.
But I couldn’t. So yes roblox had a fault into that. I even asked them to delete the group in the email.
Technically your fault and a bit of bad luck that somehow Epic’s legal department found the items and filed three seperate DMCA claims. In future consider doing all uploading (assets, clothing, etc) on alternative accounts since even with completely noninfringing assets Roblox Moderation has been pretty unusual and inconsitent. If they won’t do anything about it just make a new account and move on and try not to repeat the same mistakes.
To be fair the average roblox player probably doesn’t take the time to read the entire Terms of Use. It’s quite long and would probably take at least 15 minutes to read in full. But it is a good idea to do so if you are going to start selling an item.
If he knew it was wrong to upload the clothing and initially only got a strike then if he was aware of how to take the clothing off sale, he would have avoided further issues. What they’re saying is that they wanted to resolve the issue to prevent further strikes/bans but couldn’t. I do feel like they could have done some more research though into how to take down your own clothing.
@PerPurple If you genuinely didn’t know how to take the clothing off sale which is what I’m assuming you’re saying, then you can explain this in your ban appeal. It will probably take a while to get a response since there are a lot to read through. In the future make sure to not upload copyrighted material.
I agree. However keep in mind you are voluntarily accepting the TOS when creating a Roblox account.
While your termination seems understandable in terms of the TOS, I do feel it’s a little unfair considering your situation. Not to mention the amount of copyrighted content that is being ignored in the avatar shop. (ugc’s lol)
Yeah back in 2018 Roblox was not as strict about this type of stuff. Like you said I was that type of average roblox player who was young and saw other people doing the same thing. so I thought that this was a easy way to get robux. turns out it was harder than expected so I left the group.
Now that im getting punished for it 4 years later I understand the consequences. I tired everything to take the clothing down but it was not possible.
That’s on them. You explicitly agree to the ToS when you create an account. If you don’t read it, that’s on you. You’re liable for your actions.
On the 5th Jan 2023, my game London & East has been taken down via a DMCA request for a mesh that was in my game.
I have emailed the copyright agent (twice) with proof showing that I am allowed to use the mesh & that it has been removed from my game anyway so I can get the game back running asap…
I have still received no response and I am wondering what to do?
Does the roblox copyright agent team normally take 4 weeks+ to reply
