Hi, I just wanted to make a post as I’m not sure if Roblox changed this or not.
I have my own group, and I was thinking about seriously developing a game where I’d pursue to get it popular and to also roll in some sales, gamepasses and what-not. I figured making it a group game would be ideal, but I wasn’t 100% sure if Roblox still has it so whatever that group game sells (dev products, gamepasses) if 70% of that would still go to Group Funds despite me not being premium.
From what I know the money in group funds has and will not change any time soon. Group funds have nothing to do with who owns the group. It is a flat 30% tax when money is added to a group. Payouts have no tax.
This is incorrect, if you are Premium you will be charged 30% with a group and if your are not then your tax is 90% this all depends on which member created your group shirt, pass, ect.
Unless they are changing how group payouts are working, and I dont think they are, you are wrong. There are plenty of other posts about this topic such as. group funds tax It is common knowledge that group payouts are untaxed and money transfers to a group are at the tax rate of 30%. If someone creates an item not owned by a group then premuim/bc status would matter, but if the money is going to the group it is a 30% tax.
No, this has definitely changed. Previously when I was a non-premium member I had to pay a 90% tax on all purchases from items inside my group and then when I purchased Premium this tax was reduced to 30% whereas before the 30% tax would’ve applied with or without a membership.
I just tested it with uploading a new gamepass from a non-premium account, and receiving 70% of it in pending sales. As far as I can tell nothing has changed and it only says it will take 90% when you’re uploading an item, not buying it.
Yes, it says the marketplace fee is 90% for non-premium accounts and 30% for premium accounts, but is actually 30% regardless of your membership status.
Groups have always had a 30% revenue tax, that’s never changed. Groups treat income the same way it does a Premium user, regardless of the owner’s membership status. The payout feature does not tax any distributions, it’s always given in full.
Sure. Groups have a lot of benefits development-wise as well, especially if you intend to work in teams. Profile games are still team-workable but you may meet some troubles such as double taxing when attempting to pay users.
Thanks for helping! Glad I learned about this before making any significant progress on my games. Posting on your own profile sounds like locking yourself out of lots of opportunities, and it sure doesn’t sound great to me.
