Do privately messaged flags get sent to moderators as well?

I just started realising that I have been using the “I want to message this user” option in the flag menu when I want to discuss a post in their thread (whether it’s in relation to a rule or just to follow up privately). On the other hand, if you click a user’s name from their reply and then click “Message”, it attaches the post as well with a blank message.

Are these the same option or have I incorrectly been flagging a ton of people when I wanted to discuss their posts?

I don’t think that they see those messages. Many use it to ask people to either take down or change their posts/threads before reporting those to the mods.

This was rewritten a couple weeks ago to include this and other info.

The answer is: the top option in the flag menu is just sending a private message.
