Do using free models is a shame?

Hello, I have question about free models… Sometimes I do use them and I have question if it’s a shame using it? I am really thinking if it is or not.

I don’t think using free models is a shame, it could sometimes save a lot time. Even if you did use a free model, if you color it and changed some textures people wouldn’t know it’s a free model.

Dont use them, it makes your game look lazy in my opinion. But some free models, like leaderboards/screens is okay because you might not know how to script.

I personally think yes. In my eyes, It shows that you don’t know how to build and model and don’t want to spend the time learning tricks to help improve your building if your serious in building but if your messing around in studio with friends or doing a solo, then it’s fine. It might seem like much but I personally think that pushing someone more and more towards their goal is good.

They’re called free models for a reason. They’re models to be used for free. It just matters if your game is fun and make sure it has no backdoors. I don’t mind if anybody uses free models in the slightest, there’s no shame in using them.
It’s always fun to tweak free models too, if you’re a little embarrassed about using free models.

Free models are absolutely no shame the only thing I should always do is rewriting all the scripts so everything works perfect and there are no “bad scripts” in it

That’s fine and all but I personally haven’t touched a free model in two years when I started to take studio seriously.

Not at all. If its someone trusted (like AlvinBlox) Sure! If its a free model always check in the model. If you see “fire” and a script “Spread” Don’t use it also Don’t pass that you made it. Its not shame.

Thats true, Its not shame and it could save a lot of time. Agreed.

Yea you could if its really famous so you dont get hate.

I don’t think free models are bad, make sure they don’t have viruses, but they’re a good place to start, or learn something new on your own (because you know what it does-so you can learn what the script does based on that knowledge of its functionality). I modify free models all the time or get inspiration from them to do my own creations.

A free model is a free model, the owner put it out there for people to use! As long as its not leaked theres no shame in using them so dont worry

Free models are fine to use as long as you don’t claim it as yours, are okay with the risk and don’t care about the perception of others. It can be perceived as lazy and sometimes it is frowned upon but they’re okay to use in most peoples eyes, especially when 90% of the players on roblox are too young to know or care.

It is not at all a shame to use free models, As long as proper credit is posted it is all fine.
A free model is there to help improve your game!

No, Free models are there for you to use them as it’s (public domain) I personally think from my understanding there used to help people in the development of a project and to teach them about things that they can’t make, using a model in the toolbox could be recreated in your own version if you learn from it.

You could use many free models as much as needed as it may be something worth implementing within your game, if you use models try learning how to build of off them to incorporate your own model for example: if you pick a random model such as a chair or a table, you’ll learn how to build something like that in your own approach.

Using free models isn’t a shame as it’s there to be used. There are already similar threads about using free models, that go more in depth consider using the search function in the future.

It’s okay in my eyes, we all start somewhere. The thing is, the more we develop, the more we learn. We should try to limit the use of free models in order to learn more.

I could say the same for building, if someone does not know how to build then it’s fine. Your comment makes no sense and purely biased toward scripting.

Really just depends if your game relies on them, like if its ALL free models people might judge but I doubt anyone would care if you used a few, I use them whenever I cant or am too lazy to make something
