Hey, so for the past two weeks or so, I’ve really been working hard on a new game. Basically, I’m trying to recreate this game in Roblox:
I’ve gotten a ton done so far, including the main infrastructure of the entire game, data saving, level set up, core game objects; most of which you’ll see in the video.
I was really thinking of pursuing this project with professional UI design, thumbnails, ads, everything.
I just wanted some general feedback in regards to this though. It’d be a single-player puzzle game, and I just wondered if you guys think this game seems appealing or intriguing at all, and if this game would have a chance of getting popular.
I think so because this game can make the player do more puzzles but I most afraid of was
the enjoyment of the player reacted to this game. and also the game like that can be in the “learn and explore” section. I also think about game mechanics as well but do you working alone probably. it was a good chance player will play it like a few hours so… I think it was not a bad idea but also you can add something to make the player stay to the game by adding an explosion particle and also a good sound to each game.
you also can add level when the player finishes the course and each course have a different sound and also different location. So… it will be cool if you make the game have a lot of puzzle.
I think this game will do good i’m not saying that it will get on the front page or anything but I think you will have a good fan base to support the game.
I would think it would get quite popular. Maybe not super popular as it would require the player to enjoy puzzle games, combined with the fact that puzzle games aren’t a very strong genre. The game idea is unique however, and I think you could get a dedicated player base.
If you’re looking for money in particular, definitely not worth it seeing that this kind of game will be taking a lot of work and resources. (Not to mention the big lack of monetization potential)
As a passion project, yeah it might work out, but I’d still be very wary of working on puzzle style games. They don’t usually get as much attention as you’d want.
Very good points. Some things I was considering were level packs, where the player could purchase additional level packs to play through if they like the content, and obviously a lot of level packs would be available for free.
I was also considering content like player skins that you can buy with in-game currency that players could also earn through out levels, and perhaps certain skins give you advantages or boosts.
Another thing I thought of maybe was like, to add a “rebirth” ability where players could, once they complete all the levels in a pack, to “rebirth” where they have to play through that pack again, and in doing so they get leaderboard points that could possibly go towards something else besides leaderboard position…not sure.
As @RlGHTEOUS stated perfectly, this idea is unique and different “objective-wise” from many of the current games on the platform. I admire these sort of ideas, it brings me a feeling of character and individualism amongst developers. However, this isn’t something appealing to me, I could definitely see this getting a small, yet dedicated player base. I think one of the main disadvantages which this game lacks, is the ability to encounter online players. I could imagine people playing the game for a few hours every now and then to relieve stress. However, this is not something that I think players would be grinding unless you manage to change that aspect by succeeding in making the game less repetitive (as puzzle games often seem to be from my POV).
E.g. adding a co-op featured puzzle to this game would be ideal to me.
I bet you’ve probably spent a huge amount of time considering game mechanics and marketing. The only obstacle for this game to become popular is to overcome the fanbase of puzzles in general (as I’m afraid that there isn’t a huge enough fanbase for this genre). At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you intend by a game being popular. The puzzles in this game shouldn’t be too difficult as you’re respectively trying to aim for a specific audience as the majority of ROBLOX’s players are relatively young
I wish you good luck with whatever you decide to implement on it!
Yeah, I think a large majority of players within the younger age demographic would enjoy and play this game. Definitely a prospective successful project.
