Do you think it's worth it to advertise?

Hey guys, I have a Star Wars group and games in the making.
The other day I was wondering if it would be worth it to spend all this robux on advertisements when I could get small youtubers to play it, advertise on heaps of discord servers and roblox groups (that allow that sorta stuff of course),all for free?
Thanks

Hello! In your post, you mention that your group is still in development, or making. Because of this, I would say to limit the amount of currency spent towards advertisement of your group until it is or very close to completion.

Don’t advertise using the website ad system. You will always get outbid by people that have to the power of cube as much money as you.

As for other forms of advertising: what you mentioned is fine, and should work. But you should keep in mind that Discord servers are pretty difficult to advertise on (because everyone goes there to advertise - nobody goes there to look for groups), and it’s the same case with groups. Your best bet is to get some traction from youtubers as you mentioned.

By the way, don’t make Star Wars games. This does not fall under “Fair use” and you’re violating copyright. Several games have been taken down already because of this, and ROBLOX does not want to take the risk of a lawsuit because of something you created and you are responsible for. Unless if you are making tens of thousands of R$ daily from it, that is - you are then most likely safe and in the Protected User program.

Don’t know what you mean by Don’t make star wars games. I currently work for a big star wars group and have experienced no issue with any of the games being taken down. Unless the star wars company lodges a complaint you should be fine, as there are 1000s of groups relating to stars wars.

You can think you’re safe for now, but that’s only because Disney is very lax on DMCA’s. It’s still a risk regardless, because you’re using something that does not belong to you; something you didn’t think up of or spent time on writing about; it is not a fan game; and monetizing all of it while giving no credit to the original authors. I’m warning OP about the risk that follows along when creating blatantly ripped copies off a legit franchise.

I don’t know what you’re going on about but me making a custom map on roblox in a similar style to star wars isn’t ripping them off, the builds we make and the scripts we make doesn’t belong to them either using code that we make and assets we create which is completely different as well. If you think we’re ripping of a legit franchise then welcome to roblox, but most games here are copied off something.

In my experience, advertising in discord servers don’t really help. Small youtubers might play it but even then you won’t get much reach.
Here is a helpful link which had a post and some people also give some tips and advice on how to grow. I made a post too:

We do give credit to the authors and owners of Star Wars. Heck, we even have a disclaimer.

You could try advertising on-site, but you may get outbid by others unless you want to splurge all of it. Although it’s worth a shot, I advise you to invest more into sponsoring your games and looking for sponsors to play your game elsewhere, perhaps pay them a bit just to advertise your group around. There are tons out there looking for Star Wars groups or clans that would be interested. Just look around, goodluck!
