As a Roblox dev I would like to see more of the MicroProfiler documented. Specifically I notice there is a lack of information regarding the Counters view, which displays an overall breakdown of memory usage for the entire profile.
If I were a new developer looking around these tools I would be completely lost and not able to use it to the extent it was designed for, just because of lack of knowledge on it.
In this screenshot it gives me a breakdown of all memory categories, and their memory read outs (in bytes!, please mention this). Would specifically like to see all tags under the instance_count, memory>network, memory>render>prepare, texture, perform and memory>physics groups.
I hope you don’t view it as a cop-out, but counters mode is more interesting than useful for troubleshooting purposes – we still think the Developer Console is the way to go for memory issues. So many of the labels are part of core memory, which you don’t have control over, so I covered what the mode is and how it works rather than cataloging the labels. Thanks a bunch for reporting!
