Does roblox allow hugging?

  1. What do you want to achieve?
    so i want to add an emote that allows players to hug.
  2. What is the issue?
    i dont know if its even allowed and i would love to know if hugging is allowed as an emote.
  3. What solutions have you thought of so far?

Because i was reading up on if its allowed and it said something about not allowing affection.

Considering roblox’s TOS … incident with the hand holding, it still seems a little ansty. As long as it isn’t TOO extreme it should be 100% ok.

its a simple hug. how can it get more extreme? do you mean like adult like or what?? idk how it can be extreme.

I believe he does mean that hugging maybe a little bit off, considering online daters in the community normally abuse such emotes to show affection on one another in which Roblox is against Online Dating as stated in the Terms of Service. Maybe just pick a different emote to be on the safe side.

Allowing players to hug can be easily abused, and I wouldn’t recommend it. (I can’t think of any situation in a Roblox game where it isn’t really close to dating anyway that has a practical use)

Well the thing is how is it a little off? like yes i know i asked the question but i dont see what they can do with a hug emote. i just think its a wholesome emote.

Your players aren’t guaranteed to be wholesome players. Online dating is a big enough issue as it is on Roblox, I wouldn’t add fuel to that fire. You can’t control what your players do.

No, its not safe, Roblox bans dating, hugging is more like dating for some people

What if you’re not hugging for the purpose of dating?
What if you’re just roleplaying a hug as if you were saying good bye?

My point is holding hands and kissing almost always have to do with romance and affection.

Hugging isn’t the same way.

If hugging was not allowed, then Hug People Simulator and Experimental Hugs Room (which are both spammed with abusers) would be banned. So ROBLOX has no rules nor regulations regarding hugging.

(Edit, hug people simulator has content deleted as of 21/05/2023… Hope I didn’t do that)

My formula is as follows:

If you have to ask, it’s probably not a good idea.

If you already know it’s dodgy, don’t risk it. It’s definitely something I can see moderation messing up on in the near future. If a ton of players are using the feature for explicit reasons, then the mods might get the wrong idea.

p.p.s, it’s also kind of useless asking this question if you’re just going to ignore majority of the points that are said about it being risky (like my post right here)

Do what you want to do, just know every action does come a consequence.

That has been changed, they updated the ToS again after that incident. And anyways it’d be stupid to not allow hugging and hand holding unless it’s used for inappropriate stuff.
