Dynamic Skies Are Getting Cloudy

Ok and? Just cause a guy made something like it doesnt mean its production ready. Imagine roblox came out with this. It wouldent look bad but be super laggy and buggy. Just cause a person did it doesn’t mean its production ready for a huge platform with like billions of users. When fib3 was a hackweek project it was made in a week. While it took roblox to add it like 5 or 4 years. No this isnt roblox being lazy, why would they wanna spend loads of money and time for 1 feature when they could make it quicker and spend less money? This is because there still was issues to be sorted out and these stuff can take a long time. Also the clouds you showed doesnt have other cloud shapes (Which is what roblox would be adding when all the phases are done.) Also if you looked at the pictures at RDC they look way better then those clouds. We dont have those right now because were at phase 2 not phase 3.

The clouds I showed did technically have different cloud shapes, by editing the cloud settings in a config menu, which would be pretty good for phase 3. and they aren’t laggy.

I don’t think this would be exactly possible in roblox since it uses shaders and stuff but okay

is there a chance that we can control cloud generation in future phases? It would mean a lot.

True but they didnt like have different types of clouds as in like no specific types you normally would see. Like cummulus or whatever. His are more like a base for it to be added later like phase 1

Well roblox uses shaders when adding new features like this. Or do you mean for developers to make their own.

Well, if you’re on mobile and playing a game with clouds, it’ll be buggy.

When will we be seeing phase 2?

Since we’ve been moving into lighting, atomsphere, clouds, etc. Do you think we might get volumetric lighting or fog soon?

they said the new phase was supposed to come out on july 9 th its 2 days from being a month and nothing yet

@SushioDNimitz Search up clouds in any property, then where you see the arrow, un-toggle the checkmark for reccommended items, or something like that. And then, search it up again, click on clouds, and place it in terrain.

They did come out on the 9th. On the 9th it was announced that you could now publish clouds into your games.
