Purpose of this Topic:
This post was made moreso to help hold myself to my personal obligations & to further motivate me through my development journey as opposed to being a solid topic meant for heavy criticism. That being said, I’d love to hear any feedback, both positive & negative, ideas, questions, or really any relevant lines of thought. It would really be appreciated. I plan to either update this topic, or post again after I feel substantial progress has been made. Please acknowledge I am only one person & I’m limited strictly to weekends (3 days a week). Development & any progress updates will not come quick.
Core Gameplay Loop (Kinda a mess, but yeah)
In a nutshell, I’m going for "Prison Architect 2" merely SCP-ified. Players will be awarded the role of ‘Site Director’ & a plot of land from which they may construct their very own Facility to contain SCPs. They will be tasked with not only accommodating these creatures but also ensuring all of the facilities needs are meant. This will extend from everything to building & upkeeping utilities such as power & supplies, to constructing armouries, medbays, Prison Blocks, & breach shelters, as well as many others. In addition to establishing one’s Facility, the player will also be expected to defend their creation through various scenarios; This could mean utilizing their resources to respond to raids from rival factions, re-containing breached SCPs that will attempt to wreak havoc wherever possible, or even putting down internal riots. Through research, grants, & the successful containment of entities, Players will earn money & research points which can be used to bolster their capabilities to run their Facility more efficiently. If it hasn’t been realized by now, this game will heavily rely on the interactions between many non-playable characters within a player constructed facility.

Other Details: I’ve worked on this for about 12 days in total now, on & off, just whenever I was in the mood & I’m pleased with the results so far even if it’s not much yet. This is my first large project after a long hiatus from programming & development as a whole, but I’ve already stuck to this longer than I would have, say it’d been a year or two ago, even as I balance this with my job which is quite demanding. I really hope to have a finished game I can present to everyone by the end of this.
A big thank you goes out to anyone who actually had the time to waste reading all of this, thanks
Edit: i can’t spell.
