Easier accessible whitelist for offsite URLs + update the warning message

Hi!

I tried to search for similar requests or subjects, but failed to find any. If a request already exists, then please direct me to that thread and void this one.

Over the past few years, ROBLOX has jumped back and forth between which offsite URLs should be allowed or not.
Currently, a select set of URLs are allowed, but I have yet to find any documentation for which URLs actually are allowed.

As I am eager to help anyone with their questions, I launched a Discord chat-room for answering building/scripting questions and discussing development. I announced it on my profile and in the group I run, and it had been unaltered with for nearly a month. Today I got a warning for it - and that’s fair enough. It wasn’t whitelisted. My bad.
However, what really bugs me is that the warning-messages says the following:
“Don’t post off-site links on ROBLOX. All links should go to www.roblox.com only.”

ROBLOX Rules of Conduct currently state the following:
“Do not share links or directions to other websites that are not approved by ROBLOX”

Further, it states:

Do not Post Offsite Links

  • An offsite link is any URL that goes to a site outside of ROBLOX.com,
including ROBLOX fan sites. If you want to tell someone your profile
on another social website just say, “My name on __ (site name)
is ___________.” then they can go look you up. The site name is not
    the URL.
  • Exceptions to this rule are Twitch.tv, YouTube and Twitter links.
However, be sure that you are posting those in the appropriate forum
and that they are not off topic
  • For the safety of our users, we allow only certain websites to be linked to from ROBLOX Exception: Site links that allowed to be posted
    on ROBLOX
    • *.roblox.com/ (anything that ends in .roblox.com is allowed)
    • Twitch.tv
    • Youtube.com/
    • Youtu.be/ (YouTube’s URL shortened)
    • Twitter.com/ (t.co/ (Twitter’s URL shortened) is NOT allowed, as it can be used to mask non-Twitter URLs.

If ROBLOX now allows certain off-site links, wouldn’t it be way more informative to clearify this in the warning-message? Eventually point the player to where the allowed links are shown (Rules of Conduct), instead of misleading with that all links should go to roblox.com only?

It would also be helpful if the whitelisted URLs were written somewhere where people might find it easily.
Most players likely do not know how to access the Rules of Conduct. Currently you are required to click 7 different buttons or links to find your way from Home to the Rules of Conduct - and that’s if you know what to click. Worse is that the rule describing off-site links is categorized under “Forums and Message Boards”. If you’re only into groups, that’s not the first place you’d look.

My request/suggestions

  1. A public list / documentation for which URLs are allowed to be posted on ROBLOX. Should be easily accessible (way easier than the Rules of Conduct.)
  2. Alter the warning-message to better describe your misconduct. Direct to the list of allowed URLs.

I’d also love for Trello.com and Discordapp.com to be added to the whitelist. Especially Trello.

Agreed. Also I did ask Becky if they could add Trello to the whitelist since they themselves use it and it is pretty useful when managing a project with more developers.
