So I just got a PM on ROBLOX suggesting an idea to help reduce people scamming users on ROBLOX via trading.
This is the content of the PM sent from BillabobIgnus:
"i know i should post this in s&i but i’ve never seen a mod post there so i have no reason to believe mods look at it
the basic idea is that if you send or accept a trade where you give more than 5 times the rap of the other user a verification email will be sent to you
click the link in the verification email and the trade will go through"
I think this would be a really good idea and would help discourage or hopefully reduce the amount of scamming going on around ROBLOX.
Should you also have to confirm through email when deleting items?
Oh I broke into a rich person’s account I can’t trade these items to myself… If I can’t have them, nobody can! I’ll delete them!
Also, I think the arbitrary 5x RAP requirement is pretty silly. What if an account thief tries to trade for 1/4x the item’s worth? Then they bypass the email confirmation. If something like this is put into effect, it should be for all trades (and optional, of course)
I don’t know what types of deals that roblox traders make, but I would say that 5x is a pretty high number, I would say 2x the value MAX. As someone that trades a good bit in TF2, I don’t have any problem comfirming every trade that I do.
What I want to know is why there even is an option to delete a hat/gear. Why would anyone need to delete one in the first place? The only people I can imagine that uses this are people who break into other people’s accounts and destroy them.
Way I see it, free (maybe) items. Thing is, now often do gifts open? Couple times per year? After that, I seriously doubt anyone is actually deleting items. I just feel that deleting hats/gear is just an abused feature.
The only thing this would help with is people getting exploited and hacked. I dont see how this helps with scamming. Most scams occur because someone promises a trade or items to someone and the victim accepts the trading in hopes the other guy keeps his word…
The victim is knowledgeable of the trades going through its just that they trust people who should not be trusted… You cant fight that with an email confirmation because even then they will confirm the trade…
All this feature would do is prolong the process… But could be useful for hacked accounts sure.
