As a Roblox developer, it is currently time-consuming to learn how to utilize new features as they release, to teach others how to utilize a given plugin/system within a given development environment/experience, and to onboard new developers to work with a team’s existing ecosystem of resources.
The interactive “Quick Tour” guided tutorial for Studio poses a uniquely powerful solution to this - a way for users to learn how to do something in a hands-on manner that can provide plugin creators and teams alike a powerful tool to educate others about domain-specific knowledge relevant to their work.
The development of such a system would have several major benefits:
- It would allow for developers to better educate others similar to the goal of Resources > Community Tutorials via a hands-on tutorial rather than text or video alone, helping new and existing developers alike better understand the ecosystem and learn/refine skills which will help them create on the platform.
- It would allow for developers to more easily onboard new team members, giving a way to ensure that the knowledge they need to succeed and work alongside existing developers is made readily available without the need for as much manual relaying of information throughout on-boarding.
- This would allow for educators to create their own interactive lessons/curriculums for studio, bolstering its ability to be utilized as a learning tool in an educational setting.
- Finally, it would give a way for plugin creators to provide a way for users to learn how to utilize their plugins and/or a potential way for users to try a limited version of said plugins before they purchase them, allowing for a more vibrant and effective ecosystem of plugins on the platform through enabling the education of current and potential users of plugins.
