Encyclopedia Reading Simulator | Would you play it?

Hi there! We are Encyclopedia studios. We are looking to release our first game called Encyclopedia Reading Simulator in Late February! We are a group of 5 developers!

What the game will have:

A Library filled with different types of books like Comics, Novels Animal-O-Pedias etc,
You can only hold 2 books meaning after you have 2 books you can go sell your books for Crystals!
To get books you teleport to a library FILLED with books and you choose one and decide if you want to buy it!
The currencies are: Intelligence and Crystals
You get a MAGICAL BOOK when you get out of the safe zone!
Each time you kill you get intelligence and a couple of Crystals!
Islands!
Intelligence stick! An exclusive item that hovers around you and gives you intelligence every once in a while!!!
All of the books will have a description of them!

[I will add more]

So then, would you play this game?

I cannot show the game currently as we are still making it [Keep in mind it’s like the 5th day we are making this and we’ve only just got a scripter today!]

Thanks for reading!

Opinion

To be honest I would not play it, but I never really play roblox games anymore. I honestly think you have a good idea! It seems it would appeal to the younger crowd of course (all simulators are geared toward 6-10 year olds)

Ideas

I don’t really think you should get a sword when you step out of the safe zone, I think you should have the ability to “cast a spell”. What I mean by this is you can have a particle that you can throw at someone. The more intelligence you the stronger the “spell” is.

Also, maybe add a little learning to it? Maybe randomly generate a daily fact every time they log in (and give them like 5 Crystals)

Just a tip, maybe you shouldn’t use have pets. Come up with something more original, that can make your game stand out.

Overall I think this is a good idea. Just needs a little cleaning up!

You are not going to find very many developers wanting to play a simulator game, but I believe this game has much potential for a younger audience like @PawsomeDev had already stated. Best advice is to make the game understandable for a younger audience.

Maybe I would play it, name it “Reading Simulator” instead of “Encyclopedia Reading Simulator”, would make the name shorter!

Simulators at the front page evolves at its own pace, and right now the ‘meta’ or trend is to involve some form of a PVP aspect. Although, while you do include this, it sounds blunt and has nothing to do with the theme. A theme that is exhilarating is also important to keep the player able to kind of escape reality into a fictional fantasy of their dreams. You’re also missing the mechanic (which is important for this current trend) where you’re getting closer to a new discoverable area while grinding. Next time when designing a game, take these loops into account. Game-, progression- and social loop.

Game loop would look like this:

  • Action 1: reading books from library
  • Action 2: PVP; killing other players.
  • Action 3: Roleplay?

Progression loop:

  • Beginner: Gain intelligence/crystals
  • Intermediate: Buy new equipment to speed up progression
  • Advanced: Discover new areas to enhance progression further

Social loop:
While simulators usually don’t emphasise on this aspect, but give it a try because why not  .

  • 1st interaction: Read with someone
  • 2nd interaction: Collaboration with other players
  • 3rd interaction: Killing other players
  • 4th interaction: Trading with someone

I don’t understand it, so I don’t think players would quite understand it either. Also, the title sounds almost like the most unappealing game possible. If it is trying to be an ironic joke, I am not sure it will land with most people.

I mean, the game’s self-explanatory. Are you unable to comprehend why it would do well with players?

I don’t think it is that unappealing, there is always an audience for everything. Also try not to say “I don’t understand it, so others won’t”. Going off a limb, you’re trying to say you’re apart of the majority and represent them? You could’ve just read the thread, the others seem to have understood it quite well.

Not trying to sound aggressive or anything but I don’t think you should assume that they’re trying to make a game that lands ‘well’ with everyone. Changing the status quo is never bad
