There’s a growing issue within Roblox’s moderation system known as “Enforcement Bans”, this type of ban occurs when an account is terminated and other unrelated accounts that have any form of shared data or connection with it such as IP addresses, device, billing info or email information are automatically flagged and permanently banned as well. This can happen with very limited contact as far as we the community know, such as:
Logging into Roblox on Public Wifi or shared network ( school, cafe, or hotel )
Using a family device or a shared PC
Having previously logged into an old account that was later terminated
Sharing billing methods, emails or phone numbers between accounts
Even if you had an older account that you just didn’t use in a couple of years, if that account was terminated for whatever reason, your affiliated accounts whether it be through email, phone number or just login history now have to suffer the consequences. And most of these terminations issued on these accounts in the first place are automated and not even human issued decisions, this is extremely unfair and honestly just corrupt to the millions of innocent people who spend hundreds of dollars to even thousands of dollars on this game. I myself am victim to this bug, and I think that its time that roblox realizes that they cant just get away with this anymore, you are a billion dollar company, you need to cater to the needs and expectations of your community, fix the AI sloppy moderation and give us a decent human support channel.
Many people, and I mean hundreds of people have reported dealing with this issue on countless social media websites such as reddit, discord, youtube and x, and everyday there are more and more complaints. Additionally Roblox provides little to no information when issuing these bans, essentially just giving you nothing to work off of, and if you appeal and they don’t like it, you can never appeal again per their TOS.
Expected behavior
Only accounts that directly violate Roblox’s Terms of Use should be moderated or terminated, unless there is concrete evidence that those are the same people and they are directly and purposely violating the TOS. ( These decisions should be Human not AI.. ) Innocent users should not be affected by another person’s enforcement action, especially when the connection is indirect or years old.
Roblox should review and improve the Enforcement Ban detection system to ensure it does not punish innocent users, some potential fixes include:
Manual Review
Differentiation between public/shared networks and private connections
Clearer communication and information given to users when these bans are issued ( What account caused it, why that account was banned, how you were connected to it, etc )
Better Support in general would also remedy this issue in some way
It’s extremely disappointing that a company of this scale would have these problems.
