Eternal Destiny - RPG

(This is my first time sharing a place I’ve made :o)

  • Just some background info -
I’ve been developing RPGs since I’ve been developing on Roblox. They’re my absolute favorite genre of video games, and big titles like Runescape and World of Warcraft are always inspiring me. ( There are also some really nice Roblox titles I enjoy, like the Legacy series, any rpgs by RangedMeludE, and The Roblox Chronicles )

My history of RPGs in chronological order:
Rune scape RPG (From 2010) - Roblox - 2010
Choose Destiny I - Roblox - 2010-2011
Choose Destiny II [RPG] - Roblox - 2012
Old Eternal Destiny. - Roblox - 2013 (Scrapped idea)

I have been working on a new place this past year, and would like to share it with you guys to get some feedback from experienced developers who have already made plenty of lucrative games and know what makes one good. Please tell me what you think about my place, what it needs more of, what it needs less of, and any other side notes or comments you have!

  • About -
The play style is somewhat of a crossover between Runescape and WoW, but I want to make it follow my own story line that I’ve been brainstorming about for awhile. I still haven’t decided on the lore yet, though.

Your cursor will go black if it hovers over something you can interact, and you can interact by left clicking an object to bring up options (like runescape). I really like this way of environmental interaction in video games because you can explore to see what you can do with what, and see what NPC has interesting information to share.

There isn’t any combat or much map to explore, but there are some side skills you can train. At the moment, there is Mining, Smithing, Felling, and Firemaking. The thing most people like about the skills are the animations. I’ve been told they look smooth and professional :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll update this post whenever I add significant updates or whenever I have some lore I’ve thought of to share.

A selfie with some players I met in game

Pretty good so far, I’ve got to admit.

Feels a bit too much like Runescape, and while I personally would say that’s not a bad thing - I’m not sure how others would take it.

The mining/smelting/felling/firemaking mechanics seem to work fine for the most part, gives me a lot of nostalgia from when I played RS as a kid.

The context menus when clicking things for the most part works - although can be fiddly (inventory/character context menus are fine) as to whether you’re able to click on something or not - hard to tell the distance you need to be to do an action such as mining. Cursor change perhaps?

I think for the Inventory,Character & Skills windows - there should be buttons to open them. People on ROBLOX aren’t so quick on keyboard bindings when it comes to these things.

It’ll be interesting to see where your game goes, anyhow. Keep up the good work.

I like it!

Suggestions (that you may have had planned to add already)
[ul]
[li]Buttons for everything lol, I am having a hard time remembering the controls[/li]
[li]Make the cursor change yellow or something instead. I don’t even notice the cursor changing to black [/li]
[li]Make the ‘Choose Option’ menu bigger; too small to click on small screens[/li]
[li]Different colors for server messages in the chat menu; makes it easier to see actual chat[/li]
[li]The game should tell the player when their inventory is full[/li]
[li]‘Choose Option’ menu should say what the item/object is (ie Tin Rocks, Bronze Bar)[/li]
[li]When in the bank menu, don’t show ‘Deposit X’ or ‘Withdraw X’ if there’s only one of that item[/li]
[/ul]

I wanna try this so badly, but I don’t want to fork over ~420 tix. :<

Mind making a closed testing version and allow me. :Q
