Even More Server Memory

Yo this is for the people who probably are going to do the simple math wrong.

It mean 6.4GB by default and 100MB for each player from the game peak added on top

so 6.4GB + (100MB X 0 PLAYERS) = 6.4GB

or 6.4GB + (100MB X 100 PLAYERS) = 16.4GB

what’s the point, 700 is crazy as is, and usually never filled to brim in actual games, just meme games.

I am trying to implement a 2D game that has 150 players (ā€œDotsā€) per side (150 x2) in battles.
Bringing them to a 3D avatar version would be great… but currently Roblox can’t cater for that, but thankfully moving now in the right direction. 1st 50, then 100 and now 200… a lot short of the 700 many applied for years ago (offered as beta testers)… and still waiting :frowning:

Why need 700 ? It’s just the max really.
I would like a base of 300… and the rest can be made up of Spectators… as it is part of the excitement… for those eliminated earlier… in competitions… along with standard spectatators who arrive late… or just want to watch.

So yeah… 700 is not such a big ask… and shouldn’t lag or slow down the action… since extra spectator screens can be set up far away from the actual action.
If there was a way to have streaming experiences… that could get us halfway too.

At last my players can suffer less due to my inefficient memory usage

100% W  Thanks for the Update!

This is honestly awesome, all we need now is more CPU power individual servers and we’ll be able to do even more.

If I remember correctly, this is a key goal that Dave has mentioned a number of times during RDCs, though we could also cheat slightly with seamless transitions between game servers (eg. even just when walking around parts of a large map) which would help a lot with balancing network bandwidth between servers as well. I think 10 000 player servers were even mentioned maybe once or twice. Avatars and their physics are probably going to require the most resources in these cases.

With how the Napolenic genre is growing, I could easily see 10,000 active in one server in the future.

Speak for yourself , we’d love to have more optimized servers for large player counts to do truly MMO experiences

How fast does this take in effect? For instance, if 40 people join a server right when it starts up, does it take time for the cap to increase or is it immediately at 6400 + 100 * 40 MB?

Hello, was there any changes to the Roblox-internal/core usage in server memory? I experienced a sudden jump in server memory at March 17, 8 PM CDT, rising from ~5.8 GB to ~6.7 GB, causing my servers to crash. I haven’t updated my game at all.
