Experience-wide Publishing

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to publish large experiences containing multiple place files as it often requires me publishing one by one over previous ones. This can be headache inducing and potentially dangerous in the case of any structural changes to player data.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because I’d be able to more seamlessly publish large scale updates and patches without needing to go through each place and waiting for each one to publish.

Here’s some potential ideas I have:

  • Publish Experience option: Straight forward, just allow us to overwrite other experiences when publishing.
  • Multi-place publishing: When going to publish a place that’s part of an experience consisting of many places over to another experience, prompt which places to publish over, allowing us to more seamlessly choose.
  • Experience versioning: Something more to fix the overall issue of experience publishing is to have the experience support variant branches and allow us to publish an experience to live once we’re comfortable. This should ideally fix the hacky nature of publishing to a live game from a testing environment.

Of course, only ideas, and I respect any sorta of solutions provided. I simply want things to be easier for multi-place experiences that do testing on separate experiences to upload to the live experience.
