I think, unlike Valve Software and the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2 Steam Workshop Submission for Weapon Finishes, which involves often a careful selection process.
Roblox had UGC Applicants, where they verified the integrity of a person once only. Then allowing them to upload anything at any time.
Issue is that some have managed to destroy this trust, unless it was unintentionally.
It’s a mystery how people like that managed to get into the program, compared to others. But it’s probably similar in other places.
Scammers managing to get fake identity to register domains to abuse them. And here it could be acting nice to get in and then do bad.
It is no secret that this announcement was the single most embarrassing moment in the history of the platform. (I consider the 2022 audio changes the second most embarrassing moment)
Here, they had absolutely NO idea how significant it would’ve been if this policy went into effect as scheduled and if you notice, they refused to provide any tips on how to be ready within just seven days.
We might as well ask who green lighted the proposal in the first place?
I personally hope this policy update doesn’t return. Or at least if it does, it’s drastically improved. I trust that this will be fixed when/if this change returns.
I agree with the sentiment, it’s always a good idea to be on the lookout if roblox tries to be sneaky and silently implement this whole policy piece by piece.
Any update that requires developers to implement something in their games should be seen with utmost suspicion.
Until Roblox explicitly states they are cancelling the policy rollout, I wouldn’t consider this issue resolved.
Hitting the pause button on a TV remote implies you can hit the play button to go right back to watching. In this metaphorical sense, we want Roblox to hit the “stop” or “eject” button.
Especially when it’s a policy change that takes effect within a couple weeks, giving developers barely any time to comply. A company as large as Roblox’s should understand that adapting to rule changes isn’t supporting that can be done quickly…
It’s been a full year ever since you guys paused it… Please don’t unpause this and forget about this completely. Those are my kindest thoughts. Also, sorry for the bump.
sorry for bump but the update is definitely permanently cancelled, and if they do revive this update like 90% of the devs are gonna quit, except for Preston or the adopt me creators probably, and the platform will fall on its face and die
