sorry for late reply but what exactly are you implying here my good sir? roblox is being self destructive and valuing investors over their community, but the investors see the unhappy community and therefore don’t want to invest in roblox. roblox is too blind to see that they have to make their community happy to get investors in the first place.

Ever since the r6 r15 feature was revealed, I think layered clothing will critically break games. Dynamic heads already broke some classic games I played while wearing a dynamic head (not the ones that move, just the little silly 2D ones, but it still detects them as moving faces).

Honestly if roblox pulled that on us i would just up and say/do something diabolical/controversial so I get my account deleted (so I can’t have access, because eventually I would regress, roblox has been part of my life for over 5 years now, and it would be very hard to quit), and never look back. I think a lot of other people would do the same, to be honest.

Still no update, so hopefully that means we’re in the clear and this completely thoughtless decision was swept under the rug and won’t ever show up ever again. Right? Seriously, if ROBLOX ever brings this up again everybody might as well quit permanently cause it would be one final stupid decision too far.

I think it’s safe to say that, for now at least, we’re safe. It’d be wise to remain vigilant, but we may just have gotten through their heads with our backlash.

I’ve got the slightest feeling that Roblox will try to push another potentially destructive policy change like this eventually, so everyone should keep an eye on Studio’s notifications and #updates:announcements.

Indeed. If Roblox tries to make it harder for less experienced developers (or those that are using Roblox assets to give their experience a classic aesthetic) to make their dream games, then they (Roblox) don’t appreciate these developers, and they should probably switch to different game engine.

Do I read this wrong, or does it say that they canceled the Policy?

Regardless though, my thought process for this regardless whether it was canceled or not. Is to still put like a UI, with “Credits” for UGC’s used that I do not own or have an agreement with.

Where I just list them up with a purchase prompt, somewhere in the game. I am not gonna put floating Drones that fly to a player advertising that 24/7, that’s too extreme.

I believe it should be eventually as good as when you want to observe what another player is wearing on their avatar. (Which isn’t something that is 24/7 advertised, which is good)

 

This should support and respect the original creator of the UGC. If that’s not enough, then they do not value that at all and should not even receive support in the first place.

If that’s not good enough, then I will cry, literally.

 
 
I’ve met UGC Creators that do not deserve the respect, regardless though if I use it, I put it in credits. There’s a few UGC Creators that abuse a lot out of the UGC Program, along with advertising their creation in other games, flexing as much as possible, It’s sad for me to observe.

 

Regarding putting things in credits from UGC Creators that managed to IP rip-off something… Well, rule is I put any UGC I use in the credits. If the UGC creator copied an idea, it shouldn’t be my fault, if I wasn’t able to tell where it was from.

I would remove it though if it was an issue, but I have no clue how one gets notified about that.

 
 
 

I’d encourage anyone else to think the same way eventually. I totally understand the intention behind what they tried to do with this Policy. Eventually they went too far with the enforcement and unpredictable automoderation consequences, that even I fear. I agree with that.

the ugc program is a disaster. roblox moderated for for 2 days and then just left their ai to do it, but their ai couldn’t detect bad stuff to save its life, because the ugc program these days is just a flaming trash heap of copyrighted characters, such as Mickey Mouse and Elmo, and even really horrible stuff (one time there was literally a ugc item named “child predator” or something like that)
