Investor Day, November 15.
That might be the day to watch for if they go forward with this update.

Weā€™ll have to keep spreading awareness. They CANNOT roll this out, it WILL kill half of the platform.

If they do not make a prior announcement, it will kill even more. They need to be more transparent about potential career-destroying changes like this.

its already killed the platform thats why alot of us devs have left some went to core others went to godot engine others went to steam ect. more freedom not as strict is what ive been told why they have left along with how bad moderation has gotten to where you cant even say without getting hit with a ban as alot of people and others have adressed

Last I checked, the platform is not deadā€¦ yet. It is gaining and losing developers all the time.

Thesres only 1 way to bring back the people who left roblox.JUST BRING BACK THE CLASSIC ROBLOX I think roblox forgot that the platform is based on CLASSIC BLOCK AVATARS THAT EVERYONE LOVED!

what i ment is alot of big devs are leving the platform many have already said it and programmers have stated it and one reason is because roblox itself runs on a old engine there for we as devs once the do updates it breaks codes in our games which causes us to have to rescript some of those codes and it gets tireing so they moved on to other platforms to not have to deal with the issue and the other issue is the moderation being strict meaning you can make a model of any kind and can get banned based on color that you put on it for example anything you make a dark red the moderation thinks it gore same goes with skin color if its close to skin color it flags it a nudity and yes ive been hit with one that said nudity even tho it was a regular square block in which i was testing it.

they will roll it out no matter what happens thats why its delayed. what about the updates that was released around 2014,2015 ect we as the community didnt hear anything about the updates then bam was stuck out without anyone knowing same things being changed on roblox that people dont see such as the studio ui layouts and things being removed. and thats coming from someone thats been on the platform since 2013-2014ish

There is a 90% chance that this god-awful policy update gets pushed completely unchanged. No doubt about it.

As they say, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

basically means i cant add my avatar to my own game due to it wearing a visor and JUST THE DEFAULT FACE!???!?!?!?

People have talked about this when the update was announced, and the consensus is ā€œmaybeā€.
The default face is a roblox creation and is offsale, so logic should conclude it would fall under that criteria.

If 2,155 replies isnā€™t enough to deter Roblox from releasing thisā€¦than I donā€™t know what is.

Iā€™ve been tracking this post since its release and now that i can finally reply in here i have to say that this is the fastest way to kill off a lot of the platform in just one change, i really want some of what the person that thought of this was having at the moment because it must be something wild.

A delay isnt what we want, what we want is a complete cancellation.

As far as I can tell, #development-discussion isnā€™t in a complete uproarā€¦ so weā€™re probably good for now :+1:

We should remain on the lookout, though.

Edit: nvm #development-discussion is in fact up in flames but not for that reason

Itā€™s likely more like ~3k replies, roblox deleted around 1500 replies shortly after this thread was first started

Well, now that some time has passed, Iā€™ve thought about this update and where it could go from here. As I see it, thereā€™s only two paths forward now that make even a lick of sense:

Option 1: Roblox has silently canceled this policy update and we will never hear of it again.

Option 2: Roblox brings this update back in the not-too-distant future, but makes significant changes to what is and isnā€™t affected. Specifically, theyā€™d make it affect just UGC and not Roblox-made assets. A lot of people thought that this was what they meant at first, and from what Iā€™ve seen most people were fine with that. If only they knew, lol.

Roblox would not attempt to destroy all of the games on the platform ON PURPOSE like some people here think. Roblox have definitely made stupid decisions, but they are NOT intentionally looking to self-destruct their company. They want to make money while feigning innovation, and a change like this would only make them lose money and seem like they arenā€™t innovating anymore. Not even new investors could save the company if something like this was pushed out unchanged, and they 100% know this by now thanks to the massive feedback. Even big devs would quit, and they donā€™t want to lose out on those cash cows!

I genuinely believe that this was not intended to be malicious to devs, and the people on the Roblox team creating this policy genuinely had no idea what kind of ramifications it would have.

Hereā€™s my theory: I think the people responsible for this are newer employees that have experience in other companies. That would definitely explain some things, like the insanely vague corporate response, the fact this update also includes Roblox assets despite Roblox being perfectly fine with their use prior to this, and their attempt to sweep this under the rug by removing an insane amount of replies. This isnā€™t expected behavior from Roblox, but it is expected behavior from other companies like Alphabet.

I have never seen anything quite like this before, and I think that thereā€™s definitely something more to this that none of us know about. In any case, I hope my theoryā€™s true, because then thatā€™ll mean something like this probably wonā€™t happen again as theyā€™ll be more careful making updates going forward.

Guess weā€™ll just have to wait and see.
