What I would hope Roblox would do is go to the item and see who made the item and if it matches who made it and who owns the game they would expect it. One thing I just thought of is just like how you can make it so certain Roblox games can use an audio sound, they could do that with catalog items too.
I guess this is feasible, but Iâm concerned for the grand scale of things, as that is what Roblox is preparing for, considering the possibly close release of open UGC catalog.
Iâm just not sure if moderation is going to be able to keep up with frequent reports of things that look identical, or false reports claiming there is an infringing item. Iâm sure weâve seen games get taken down for weird reasons then get put back up again. How is Roblox going to manage that at such a high scale?
Iâm actively trying to brainstorm possible solutions as we discuss this.
Well, the same that they would with moderating games. They would have an automated system that would do it for them so they would train there AI to deny and accept items. They would also have a small percentage of real humans moderating it.
90% AI
10% Real person
Edit:
For all we know, they could have been training and testing there AI without us knowing at all
Seeing as Roblox has already done this considerably well enough, that puts that part of the concern to rest regarding scalability in the long term. As for determining, and taking moderation action though, is still bit of a grey area. The only form of validation for assets we were given here was âget moderated first, weâll review laterâ.
Possibly Roblox could have some form of page similar to that of the Appeals concept shown at RDC? It would be good for Developers to be able to submit their own âproof of agreementâ when it comes to UGC marketplace items in some form, as other forum members mentioned.
Changes like these should make developers realise the state of Roblox⌠And to those who are signing a petition I hope you understand how horribly useless that is.
Retrostudio, amazing game affected by funny update
Just the same as the pure brainrot that was the animation blending and sound privacy updates.
Who sits there in the HQ and think âOh, this is such a good update, players will love this!â?
More than likely theyâll wait for the heat to die down and release it as is, then have Suprise Pikachu face as 99% (this isnât an exaggeration.) of roblox games and devs get nuked by their pure brainrot decision.
Worst desicion of roblox I ever seen.
This is absolutely terrible, does this mean that if you have a game, where you play as a premade character, using Robloxâs old hair and faces, that it will get deleted?
according to the worst announcement of all time, yes.
Very important question here. I have a game with custom avatars that you can buy as skins. Do I have to prompt them to buy the assets used in their creation???
so i cannot show offsale items in my game now? wow⌠i got 300 games and half of them are now breaking your new terms of serviceâŚ
Apparently, yes. Every asset not made by you has to be credited.
I canât believe nobody at Roblox took a step back and asked themselves âisnât this a bad idea and will purge almost all of the games on the platform?â this is a horrendous and strange update.
Welp. Guess I have to disable skins or take down the game. This also throws a wrench in A TON of updates for that game and some games Iâve been making
I really hope that Roblox realizes that this will litteraly ruin more than half of games and revert this change.
At this point theyâre just ASKING to die out.
I think iâm just gonna fix pcâs instead of develop games now. Between this and Unity. I really donât have any good game making engines anymore
