The thread is also private, and nobody can access it, essentially making all criticism silent.
To be fair it wasnât that constructive and they explicitly said that we could repost it here
this is the rare time where they did listen
It still explains why they removed the posts though.
probably just a quirk of how splitting a topic works
would it be possible to do that then maybe prompt it in game as a touch to equip as a morph? or do you mean kinda like a uniform selecter type thing in which you would have to prompt it?
becuse they can care less so let me bring it more context 1 as for items itself people exploit and get items from games then reuplod them as if they was the creator/owner in which they set them free on the tool box then once they get used by someone they get hit with a dmca by the orignal one sadly as of rn with the market place i think its to cut down on everything that is copies. with that said for what roblox has shows above they want items to be bought right then and there which as a whole they make money either way it just boils down to those who do have certain things in there game if they have no permission from those said people that those items belong to them then the game get forced to either 1 remove them or 2 roblox pulls the game down if they do not put the game in review they then shove the game to termination which falls into that said roblox group owner being terminated off the platform too
The most disturbing fact of this update (To me) Is how many developers income are gonna be affected, some of them make a living off of roblox, and this update will put a pause to such an income. Which could potentially put their lives at risk for bankrupt.
i believe that the creation of ugc was the turning point of roblox
public ugc will be the part where the market place falls down
The marketplace is already like that, with all those limited UGCs. Public UGC is just going to make it 100000x worse.
TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE
okay im trying toi break the character limit
it was privated? what happened
Thread got split, all negative, non-constructing replies and memes went into the priavte thread. It was transferred to like a private message-like state, so only the admins can access it. Not really private, but not public either.
Thatâs because Roblox didnât actively enforce nor give such ability to enforce. This policy enables the ability to enforce, and will mandate purchase prompts that nobody is going to confirm, not when they are in an avatar editing game which is designed for people who want to try out avatars and enjoy them in a limited space. Oh, and if you donât prompt a purchase to the accessories of an avatar OR the accessories happen to be offsale or only for resale, bye bye game, itâs developer, and the developerâs career!
I wouldnât be surprised if some avatar editor games relied on a live accessory catalog, so unless the game creators had a bot which asks for permission to use any new creatorsâ assets, requesting permission isnât practical. It would help if there was an explicit property of assets which can define whether or not it can be used with permission by default, kinda like a Public Domain property.
Games might be making a profit in some way, sure, but they arenât taking your money. Avatar editor games donât let you use their avatars in other games unless you purchased all of the accessories. Itâs actually a pretty good idea for there to be games which let you try out avatars youâve been wanting to piece together, since it allows players to make better choices, even better if the game also provides a total price, an optional budget and individual purchase prompts when the player wants to buy their dream avatar.
The only time Iâd say it would be stealing is if they began selling your assets. If they started selling your assets on the UGC catalog, or scammed your future customers with assets people can only wear in one game, then a DMCA is warranted. Same thing applies if someone claims that your asset is âactually theirâsâ, since it can double as a measure to discourage people from buying your assets, and thatâs pretty much stealing and discarding any revenue from you varying on the influence this fraud has on people.
TL;DR: If someone tries to sell your hats for anything which can be eventually converted into real money, sue em. If they are promoting your jeans as their creations and making you out as a copycat, sue em. If your Jâs are being used in a game that isnât an avatar editor and isnât being used by an NPC or RPG-like class avatar, you can sue em assuming they arenât willing to budge after your request to remove.
This justification will likely change when Roblox decides to add a âPublic Domainâ property for every UGC accessory, but for now this is a consistent line to use.
Youâre wasting your breath and time, trying to argue against bytesleuth is like trying to talk to a wall, or Roblox. I would suggest getting to removing as many assets as possible from your game(s) or privating them all until the storm passes (which more than likely will come immediately back once weâve all calmed down.)
Bytesleuth is an obvious troll, that or heâs just really not smart. Best thing to do is hide his posts and ignore him. Thatâs the best way to beat his ragebaiting.
Thankfully, I donât think Iâve had much games which contain assets I donât own. Plenty of my games contain original content, and chances are Roblox will not care about a sword or bomb getting used when the policy rolls out, since the Linked Sword is too timeless and too popular to get rid of, among other gears Roblox published.
Being extremely hopeful here, but Roblox metaphorically shooting themselves in the face shouldnât be something that happens from this policy after revision. They know the damage that could be caused after our backlash, and disabling the use of Robloxâs official assets would be too damaging to keep in the policy.
Overall, Iâm bracing for impact and hoping this doesnât end in the worst possible way, and I expect lots of games to go red alert and plummet in the process if it does.
He simply doesnât understand the complications a game designer faces with this policy update, and he is probably a UGC creator himself, which is probably why he supports this so heavily. He isnât a troll, he is pretty smart, but he hasnât taken any steps in a game devâs shoes.
Finally! Someone that understands!
