cuz rodeblex wants to make teh meetavurse. that’s why!!!
They aren’t gonna stop until the metaverse project is finished. Unless it happens to burn a huge hole in their pocket that can’t be sewn back together.

it appears that their stock isnt taking any kind of damage.
they’ll continue with this update, they dont quite care about how most of their developers feel with this update.
Exactly. They won’t care until their decision comes back to bite them. If they do actually go through with this update, I’d like to see how long it lasts until Roblox realizes how bad it actually is. (I’d give it less than a week, tops)
Around the same day they announced this, RBLX stock went from 27 dollars to 25, and it’s still on a downwards incline.
Their stock has taken damage and is likely the only reason they’re postponing this.
Possibly, if their stock goes even more down, they may cancel the update.
but that’s a theory.
A ROBLOX THEORY!
Dear Roblox Community,
We are writing to you today to express our sincere apologies for the recent updates that have caused a lot of frustration and anger among our loyal and creative users. We realize that we have made some serious mistakes that have harmed the quality and diversity of the games on our platform, and we take full responsibility for them.
One of the most controversial updates that we implemented was the one that allowed any game with any accessory used without permission to be taken down, resulting in any game on the platform being put under review. This was a misguided attempt to protect the intellectual property rights of our developers and creators, but we failed to consider the negative impact it would have on the majority of our users who use accessories in a fair and respectful way. We understand that this update was unfair, unreasonable, and unacceptable, and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and distress it caused.
We want you to know that we value your feedback and opinions, and we are listening to your concerns. We are working hard to fix the issues that we have created, and to restore the trust and confidence that you have in us. We are committed to making Roblox a fun, safe, and inclusive place for everyone to enjoy.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our platform and service. We hope that you will give us another chance to prove ourselves to you. We are grateful for your support and loyalty, and we hope to see you soon on Roblox.
Sincerely,
The Roblox Corporation
Definitely wasn’t made with GPT-4!
Roblox needs to step back from touching the marketplace for like a month and re-evaluate what the hell they’re doing. It’s been one bad update after another.
first march 22nd and now this, roblox is becoming way worser then we expected
also, this does not affect avatars btw. this is just for games who have face changers (correct me if im wrong) etc.
i hated the metaverse anyways.
no. It does apply to avatars. It applies to NPCs and avatars, and player characters, and just about anything you can think of that might involve accessories.
This policy would also apply to ROBLOX-made items, offsale items, limited items and more. That’s why this is such a terrible update.
Out of all the bad Roblox updates, this definitely takes the cake. They need to reverse this.
Hi, I’m a small solo developer. I really only code, and when I make experiences, I greyblock them. I try to be as efficient as I can when I make games. I use roblox accessories mostly. They are easily recognizable, fit the characters well, and theres a wide variety to choose from. This makes finding accessories that fit the style/theme of my game fairly easy.
This change would essentially kill any further development I would ever do on roblox. I can model in a 3d program, but doing so takes time that, frankly, would be much better spent on doing anything else. Why on earth would I spend 20 mins modeling and texturing a visor, when theres 20 visors to choose from in the marketplace? Why can’t I just drop those into my game? They are on your platform are they not? So is my game isn’t it?
I’ve been here since 2008. I loved roblox as a kid, and now as an adult it is a great creative outlet. But this change hurts everyone. It hurts small solo developers the most. Solo devs or small teams dont have the manpower to create from scratch every single thing in their game.
And heres another thought. If I have to make everything from scratch anyway, why wouldnt I just move my development to an engine that has way more functionality? Theres things that cant be done inside of roblox that can be achieved in unreal, unity, godot, etc. Why would I stay here if I am being punished?
You need to go the complete opposite way with this. You need to have in the terms of service for UGC that “Any accessory/bundle/animation or other asset created and uploaded to the catalog as part of the UGC program may be used in an experience by developers and players on the ROBLOX platform.”
Facts. I’ve been on roblox since 2008. Been developing here for ages. I feel like I know the platform, and I am incredibly experienced with roblox’s engine. Any time I have dipped my toes into another engine I always have thought “ugh I could have this working in roblox in 5 mins” when I would run into a problem. Oh well. Maybe it is time to move on.
It seems that ROBLOX’s goal is to kill their platform, which is a real shame because I simply don’t have the time to try and learn an entirely new game engine because ROBLOX refuses to fix their awful policies. If this ends up getting reversed (or at least updated to be less terrible) I’ll continue development on my project but if this gets pushed out as/is (let’s face it, ROBLOX is an abhorrent company and will push it) I’ll likely have no choice other than to cancel it.
So this means I cant use “Smile” face in my games because its offsale? This effects SO many games and is absolute bs. Thanks, Roblox.
Exactly! Powering Investors.
character limit (ROBLOX is terrible)
Maybe we should just let Roblox eat at itself until there’s nothing left. After all, it’s been bad decision after bad decision lately, and while there is cool stuff going on, it’s all been tainted by the absurd lack of respect Roblox gives to the developers who BUILD the very platform making them money. Even if Roblox did lose everything, they’d still be under the influence of the “metaverse” and money, and they will not stop at anything to achieve it, even if costs the developers that make their platform. After all, they’re somewhat expendable. (in a corporations eyes at least)
It’s going to take millions of developers quitting to make ROBLOX stop exploiting everyone who interacts with them. Maybe this update will do just that, as it will cause millions of games to close/be cancelled and cause millions more to be banned.
I am really, really hopeful that this is updated to be more fair to everyone involved and I’m even more hopeful that it gets cancelled altogether, but ROBLOX has broken my trust enough for me to know that that’s just not going to happen.
As of now, this looks like the end of the platform as we know it. This may not be the end of ROBLOX but it’s certainly the end of an era, and the beginning of a dark new one.
Yes. This update, if implemented, will change Roblox forever, and not for the better. I mean, there have been updates with near-universal disdain, (removal of classic faces, tix, status, original forums, etc., price floor, removal of events, R15 and Rthro when they first came out) but not to the extent that THIS does.

Yes, I still have faith in these hashtags, even if they aren’t entirely serious.
(thanks for making that first one, btw)
well if every roblox car game has cars that look like GTA V vehicles, i will blame whoever made those ugc items (tilted tree studios)
