When using the Explorer window to deselect anything, it will fail to do so. It will appear in the window that the item is no longer selected, but in the Properties window and in the actual view of the world, it is still selected. The only way to deselect the item(s) is to click in the actual world space.
Happens with 100% certainty as far as I can tell. I’ve noticed this since the latest update to Studio.
Video Evidence
Reproduction Steps (I doubt this is necessary for something so simple)
• Open up any game in Studio.
• Make sure your Explorer window is open.
• Select anything from either the explorer window or in the actual world space.
• Attempt to deselect it from the Explorer window only.
• Notice how it will still be selected even though the Explorer window thinks it isn’t.
Yeah I hate that behavior. Also when I select children of instance, the explorer duplicates instance itself as well, instead of only children that I have selected.
Roblox should add option to enable and disable this behavior because a lot of people hate that behavior and some of them don’t so, there should be an option.
This behaviour is a problem for deselecting. Very often I find myself not having anywhere to click in viewport to deselect because you can only either click on the sky or a locked part. Locking parts is a hassle.
My bad, this was my change. Reverted it, things should work correctly again.
What happened: The Active item of the Explorer was always staying selected, because I forgot that it remembers an active item to shift-select relative to even when nothing is selected.
