not sure if this is the correct category: please correct my mistake if it isn’t!
I’m not inherently sure if this is a Roblox issue or an issue with my ISP, but around ~2 years ago I’ve started getting really bad ping spikes without it ever letting up and generally horrible ping.
This issue doesn’t seem to be entirely widespread but there are still lots of people experiencing it from what I’ve seen. It isn’t the games I’m joining since every game has this problem. (INCLUDING GAMES WITH 0 PLAYERS)
A few minutes ago I was completely unable to connect to Roblox games after a sudden increase in ping to an average of ~38,000 without drops.
I’ve had it at this point and have tried everything else, so I’m taking to devforum to see if anyone here knows the solution to this problem
I have tried using VPNs, etc.
Nothing so far has solved my issue.
To clear up any confusions, related PC specs:
adapter:
Realtek 8852CE WiFi 6E PCI-E NIC
(Set to prefer 2.4ghz, roaming aggressiveness 2 (lowest))
mobo:
GIGABYTE B760 Gaming X AX LGA 1700
This is hindering my ability to develop/have fun on the Roblox platform in a lot of ways, and I really would rather not have to deal with this for the rest of my time on Roblox.
I assume this is an issue with your ISP rather than Roblox. Play another multiplayer game and see if you still have high ping, if so then it’s not a problem with Roblox.
No, it is isolated to Roblox as stated by the title.
It can still be related to my ISP since the way ISPs handle things could mess with how Roblox works, I’ve seen it before. Uncommon but possible, and I’m pretty sure that’s the case since I get ~900 MBPS speeds on my WiFi, though I’m no networking expert and would generally not be the most knowledgeable for this. (I know some but not much)
Other thing related to this, even in servers close to where I live (~33 ms), I will still have this issue which leads me to further believe it has to do with my ISP / the way Roblox handles my connection.
Ethernet cords also do not solve this issue which is another factor leading me to believe it’s my ISP. (Although the cord I used IIRC was CAT-5(e?) and not CAT-6)
When I use a different internet connection to play Roblox, I don’t usually see the same spikes, so I’m almost certain it’s still my ISP, but I’m not 100% certain. Again, I’m no networking expert.
If you have any solutions to this problem it would be greatly appreciated if you could send them here for me (and others) having this same issue to try and see if it fixes it.
having this issue and it effects my gameplay in roblox games. it is only an issue in roblox and nothing else, have you found a fix? ive seen most people say it goes away on its own but this issue has been haunting me for over 2 years now
Nope, been stuck with it since. I’ve just learned to deal with it at this point since Roblox can’t handle a connection more than 5 miles from a server location.
