I’m currently trying to design a gamepass icon. The gamepass gives you 50% more cash per cash purchase, so it’s quite hard to express within the bounds of a small, circular icon. This is what I’ve got so far:
The background makes it really hard to see. Once you changed the background, I could give more feedback, but that background’s really the only thing that I see is wrong with it right now.
Alright. Is this better? I made the background darker, and deleted the cash inside of the basket. I’m honestly pretty happy with it now but I’m open to further improvement.
Hmm. I’m still not a fan of the money background. I really don’t think that there’s anything you could do with it that would make me be a fan of it. I’d definitely suggest just scrapping that background and choosing a new one.
There is too much going on in that gamepass. It’s overwhelming.
I suggest using a plain, one color background and maybe 2 icons (like the 50% and the arrow). Something simple and to the point to convey to the player what they are buying.
But that’ll make the players think it’s simply 50% more cash in general, when it’s actually for when you purchase cash from the store. I think I’ll go with a one colour background though.
It gives you 50% more cash whenever you buy cash from the store. If you spend 20 robux on in-game cash without the gamepass, you’ll get 1000 robux. But if you have the gamepass, it’ll give you 1500 robux.
Hello TheHeckingDev! I really do like that new icon, I do think if you exported it as higher quality it might be better, the basic design is really good. Have a great day!
You want to clarify what the product actually is in the description and title of the gamepass, you shouldn’t convey all of that information in just the icon alone. @LandofLee1620 is right, it’s overwhelming and because of that you can’t convey what the icon is actually meant to represent to begin with.
I’m assuming it has to do with the background itself, just make it a solid background instead of having the green line, dot, money symbol and whatever else is going on the background - it doesn’t add any context.
Like most games, you can spend robux to get in-game cash. Normally, in my game, you can get 1000 cash if you pay 20 robux. If you have the gamepass, you will instead receive 1,500 cash when paying 20 robux. I need the cart to tell people that it’s 50% more for cash purchases, and not just 50% more cash in general.
The gamepass will most likely be viewed in my in-game shop GUI, which has room for a title, and some space for an icon. The description is obsolete and not an option.
You need to also take into account that even if the person is buying it from the website, they might be buying it from the store page, without going to the gamepass page itself, and even if they do go to the gamepass’ page, they still might completely ignore the description.
My goal here is to use both the title and the icon to allow the user to fully understand what the gamepass does, by getting the icon to reaffirm what the title is saying.
I’ve taken your advice into consideration, here’s the icon.
While I understand your worries, if the user doesn’t know what the gamepass is - well, first, they wouldn’t buy it and/or they’d most likely view the gamepass page to see what it is. However, I don’t think it’s bad to convey what the product is with the icon and title alone, though the title would just have to say “50% Shop Product Increase” (Or “50% [currency name] increase in Shop”) or something; I’m not too sure but the title should do just fine with conveying what the product is. I would still add a description for those who are confused and view the product page to get more info.
I personally like the solid gray background and think it looks so much better. Though that’s all subjective, so it’s whatever you prefer personally.
The problem isn’t that they won’t know, it’s that they’ll mistake it for a gamepass that gives you 50% more cash in general, e.g from robberies, when it’s not that, and I’d get slammed with hate for it.
