[FEEDBACK] Blacksmith House (Update)

Hello!

I have created a simple blacksmith house, and I would appreciate having feedback on any changes or additions that I should make to the house.

I should clear up that the house has no inside. It’s only focused on its exterior detail for now, but I might decorate the interior later on.

Update is in the latest reply.

Looks good! I like the designs, one suggestion I have is what if you put your avatar in there in a little blacksmith suit, that would look epic but other than that you did a outstanding job.

Looks really good, I also agree with the idea cemprex said, you should do that.

Hello there,
the Blacksmith House is very well made and also very detail in my opinion.
the fire also really good and the decoration on the building also looking fantastic.
the curve of the roof also looking great with the building as well and also the thing that was handling the front of the window is looking very clean and very impressive.
Lastly, the pole of the building is also good not only for decoration but also it a part of the build that makes the build much more balanced and beautiful.
that all for now, I’m looking forward to your build more and I will see you in the next reply…

I like this idea a lot.

Additionally, I was thinking of also having my character hold a hammer and striking something on the anvil.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you very much for the feedback! I’m glad the pole adds a good touch to the building. I wasn’t sure of what color I should make it at first, or if it should even be there in the first place, but I’m glad that it makes the structure balanced.

This is an amazing build! I do think the amount of textures is confusing though. I see wood planks, 2 types of tile, stone, cobblestone, wood, and pebble. It just seems like an explosion of texture for the eyes to comprehend.

Decent build, but I’d give it more detail, such as including some lanterns on the bottom door the edges the curved roof and textures are pretty amazing it makes the place have a more realistic feel to it.

Since the blacksmith has the right details around the area I don’t think there’s much I can say some minor details that you may want to look into adding. Possibly more tools underneath the roof part as far as making it more fuller, just add in some random details until you get something you like. This is just a suggestion you could add if needed since it’s a blacksmith you might want to place multiple anvils, with a rack to hang different size tools and hammers, maybe some lanterns could add a touch to your house.

Other than that this is a good blacksmith I like the natural look it has.

It really is an amazing build! Great job, and keep up the good work! I see a lot of potential in you.

Although it could use some minor details such as maybe some hanging lanterns or lights. Other than that, really great job!

Hey, wanted to start off by saying thank you for the feedback!

I definitely see what you mean with the textures, and they do seem a little cluttered and uncoordinated in some parts (especially the pebble floor on the back of the house, I was running out of ideas by that stage). I’ll edit some materials around to make it more consistent throughout.

Thank you very much for the feedback!

The bottom door could definitely use some lighting, it’s probably one of the darkest spots in the house. As for the blacksmith/chimney area, I agree that it should probably contain more tools. I was thinking of placing a weapon rack on the side of the chimney and putting some simple axes/swords in it, and probably have a little workbench with tools laying around.

As for @buildermemphis, some hanging lanterns sounds really cool and I can definitely see it fitting with the build. Thank you for the suggestion!

No problem. Glad I could help with that. I just thought adding some light could make a cool addition based on the build you made.

I was thinking of having the lanterns hang from the corners of the roof. I’m not sure how it’ll look, but I’ll give it a try and see how it looks.

Go for it! In my mind, I think that will look really good!

Wow this is pretty sweet except the only thing I think the fire in oven should be all one maybe also use a custom particle effect so you can control it more and make it more realistic.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I struggled a little with the particles of the fire, so custom ones is probably going to be more appropriate. I also agree with having just one fire in general. I’ll mess around with it a little.

Oh, that’s a really good idea! And if you’re good enough in the final project, you can add in something to put out the fire and to ignite it.

I’m not much of a scripter, but I could give it a try. If it doesn’t come out well, then I’ll leave it just the way it is.

The house looks really well made and you did a really good job on that. However, I don’t think the walls really fit. Try something more wooden.

Thank you very much for the suggestion!

I will give the walls that you recommended a try, but this is kind of the design that I wanted to go for. I wanted the roof to be consisting of wood and the walls consisting of concrete and rocks of different shades to create contrast. I especially want to keep the randomized pattern that the bricks have.

I’ll experiment around with changing the walls to planks and making them different tones.
