Hi, I just finished making a castle cake. The sides and back look pretty plain. Any suggestions on what I should add? Also do the colors go together? I’m not sure whether I should make the door black or make the windows brown. Please give me suggestions on anything else you don’t like or could be improved.

Just want to start off by saying I love the idea of a cake as a castle…
These are just some ideas in my opinion, I think the white or red part of the cake could maybe use some textures, but this depends on the environment you’re using them for, if everything is textureless than it should stay how it is, if not, then maybe a sponge/sandy type texture, or if you’re going for a more cartoony look, vertical stripes. If you want to use parts instead of a texture, perhaps some colourful circular candies which are embedded into the castle all the way around in different colours like the sprinkles on the white parts to make it look less plain?
Perhaps the top tower could be a bit taller than the rest of the towers, it’s usually the most significant one.
You could put pink-ish or even chocolate icing leaking from the top of the castle (chose pink as it compliments the red roof quite well I think), If you chose chocolate, probably make doors/windows brown to compliment that too, and make it falling down onto the cake layer below and so on, and you could use that to even create a pink icing water surrounding the castle which is where the bridge is, perhaps I am getting too carried away… 
Or you could just keep it on the top layer, something sort of like this, but obviously not this image
The cones on the roof could be higher too, maybe you could take some inspiration from the Adopt Me castle
If you like it, a key feature could be slightly bordering the windows/doors in a different colour to make it less plain.
Hopefully, at least one of those was somewhat useful

The white parts feel empty but the sprinkles and stuff look good!
Your castle looks good at the start It’s simple, decent, and put together well, however I feel like the structure of the building is a bit too small in size and the parts don’t seem to be connected consider adding different shapes to the building the circular shapes doesn’t look that appealing if you know what I mean. I feel like the building should feature different objects designed at the entrance, and the entire building.
Maybe add different shapes on the sides of the castle featuring a more put together roof something similar seen in the reference image below.
For the entrance of the build, you should add maybe a path or door such as gates. A few types of castles seen online and in games often feature these types of objects something similar could work. I think adding different shapes to your build could improve it maybe throw a texture on it that matches with the design you’re going for.
Regardless, this castle isn’t finished, it wouldn’t be just a simple house, but place surrounding it such as walls, protecting the castle the walls just serve as protection source. Often a few castles, the main towers are supposed to be connected to a main walls, giving it a more unique look when still achieving that theme.

Looks good, I would add more details. Like imperfections in the build such as a leaning tower as well as textures.
