Feedback for a Laser Tag game

Hello, I recently finished the first version of my laser tag game.
I use the hyperlaser gun meshes, but everything else was 100% authentically scripted.
Here’s how the game works:
Everyone is invisible.
You periodically flash, making you visible for a few seconds
Pulling out your gun makes you visible.
Equipping your kill aura makes you visible.

You have 4 tools:
Blink, which lets you teleport where you click
Landmines, which are self explanatory
Phaser, which is a 1 hit KO long ranged fast laser gun
Kill Aura, which when equipped, quickly damages down nearby enemy players, but makes you visible and very obvious.
Goal is to get 10 points, 1 point per KO.
There’s also a gamepass weapon called a blaster, which has a longer cooldown, is inaccurate, is a 2 hit KO, and has slower lasers but shoots 3 lasers at a time.

Please check out the game and give feedback. Game is only playable with two people.
Thanks, have a good Christmas.

Hello, ScriptTime here.

After playing your game, I have a few things to say. Feel free to disagree with me on this one, a lot of my feedback could be considered as purely subjective.

What was good
I quite like the game premise, it’s unique and something that I haven’t really seen on the platform, however unique doesn’t mean good. I wouldn’t say that the execution was top tier, but it was decent at best from what I’ve seen. The range of tools at your disposal was quite nice, the mere fact that you are given options is a good thing in my books.

What wasn’t so good
When I talked to you on the game, you told me this game was based on strategy and planning around shortcomings. This in its self isn’t a bad thing, but keeping this in mind, I don’t like the element of randomness in the game. Imagine you are in an intense match, 9-9 on the scoreboard, ducking and dodging between lasers and landmines. Then, all of a sudden, BAM! Everybody can now see you and can very clearly see your location. This, of course, wasn’t your fault, but that doesn’t change the fact that you lost. This could cause some players to dismiss the game as unfair and ultimately quit. Another thing I would like the mention is the landmines. Not only do they go completely invisible for a few seconds, when they explode, they leave you on half health and severely nerfed. This wasn’t your fault, as you weren’t there when the landmine was placed, and you couldn’t see the landmine at all. One final point is the way this game completely limits your vision. I get that that is a key part of the game, but more often than not, it feels unfair to get jumped out of the blue by some guy using killaura (the tool in the game).

What I would change
There are quite a few things that I would change to make the gameplay experience more enjoyable and fair for everybody. For starters, I would add a timer that displays how much time you have left until you “flash”. This would allow players to plan around this disadvantage and actually strategize. Another thing I would change is the amount of visibility. I would make it so that players are faintly visible at all times. Again, I get that this is a key part of the game, but the last thing you want your players to do is leave the game because they lost due to something out of their control/power. I would also make it so that landmines are visible at all times, so that they act as a hazard to be avoided rather than an annoyance at best. I would also add things that would make gameplay feel more varied. For example, I would add classes to the game. This would make it so that players have to change the way they act based on who they are fighting. Perhaps add a class that specialises in the element of surprise rather than high DPS, or a class that specialises in traps and hazards. I would also add more game modes to the game, as the same generic gameplay loop gets boring quite fast. Something to consider is adding a points system. This gives players a goal to work towards. This also gives players a way to obtain the aforementioned classes. Also, sidenote, this game has a max player count of 10 people, meaning there would be 5 players per side. If the goal is to get to 10 points, the game would end very quickly, as the goal for every player would only be to get 2 kills.

Final Words
The game was quite fun, despite its shortcomings. Do I think this would be the next big thing? No. To elaborate, the game is far too complicated for the average Ipad kid, and far too unfair for the people who actually want to play games without being bombarded by a bunch of attacks that cannot block (Blox Fruit). However, I think this game could do better if you were to add some more polish and variation.

Thank you for reading.

Next update I’m making is some new gamemodes.

Minefield, which constantly spawns landmines everywhere
KOTH, where there’s a tower in the middle that zaps people with lightning; touching the center will make it stop attacking you
Maybe a CTF element where you have to return something to the back of your base, but having it makes you perma visible.
Good idea?

Minefield sounds like a fun twist to base game, I personally think that the chaos would make this gamemode fun to play. The CTF Idea seems pretty balanced and could spice up how you play the game. It would also be better for servers with more people, as everybody has to work as a team to make sure that the flagholder isn’t beamed out of existence lol. I don’t know how KOTH would work in moderate darkness, as it might be hard to see where you are actually going. Other than that, KOTH seems like it is gonna be a pretty intense gamemode, which is never really a bad thing.

I’d say you should add a few more maps, but that’s just my personal opinion.

I’m glad you are adding changes to your game to make it more interesting to play, I’m going to test it out with my friends later today!

Thank you!
Here’s how KOTH will work. It’s still a 10 pt death match.
But there will be a large tower in the middle with a glowing orb on top that shoots lasers. Stepping on a orb in the middle will convert it too your side.
The tower will zap any enemy, including invisible ones…
I also just tested it with 2 of my homies and found a few bugs.
I think I fixed all of them, but there may still be a couple, I’m not sure.
Also, I can give the blaster gamepass for free to you lol, via badge.

I’ve fixed numerous bugs, added a rating system, removed KOTH because it sucked, added some new walls, and a better scoreboard UI.
Would you be willing to get some friends on to play?

Sure! Also, sorry for the late reply.
