Hello.
I am advertising my game Duel in the Darkness soon.
This is my ad.
What do y’all think?
Do you think that people are going to read all of that?
I don’t think anyone would want to play with free gear models in the dark
You can either clickbait and get a lot of bad rating, or you can not clickbait and get no players.
The issue itself is that people in 2022 doesn’t tend to play retro tags in the dark unless we’re talking about very OG players. Which doesn’t appear much.
That’s not true at all, there’s non-clickbait ads that attracts way more than clickbait
Hey, I wouldn’t insult him like that. Free models are there as a tool for development, especially for those who don’t have time to create all of their own assets. “I hate free models!” is kind of a noob statement, as you learn more about things in general, you start to realize that a majority of front-page games use free models (either from the toolbox or just straight from the catalog) in some fashion.
Yes, it’s not an insult, free models are not shameful to be used for education but here advertising is a part of marketing which leads to player experiences, and it’s important to understand that most players doesn’t like free gears and dark bland maps as they’re hard to use and not very appealing
Yeah I also agree with this.
However, on a side note I’d recommend you change a BIT of the laser gun. I’d recommend making power ups and other cool effects since just moving and shooting basically nothing is boring
No that’s not very true, plus, nobody will declare their game as a dark game with free gears in their ads, if they want the ad to succeed.
Free model is a negative word. If you got a pack from another dev with realistic tree models it’s not called free model. Free models are basically bland things you put in your game cause too lazy
A lot of the games I play have free models / meshes included, you just don’t notice it. Almost every game uses publically available modules and scripts in order to augment their systems (things like FastCast, PartCache, etc.)
(although, you do have a point about directly ripping gears from the catalog.)
“Free Model” having a negative connotation is simply from noob developers who don’t really understand what they’re doing. If you got a pack (as a model) from another dev that’s free, it’s a MODEL that’s FREE, aka a free model. I don’t believe that most big-time developers have a real issue with it.
Free model isn’t a model that’s free, but a unsuitable model that’s found in little time, of course we could argue about the definitions, but a lot of words like this exists, sounds neutral but in reality could be very negative.
If a fan spent a few hours and made Bloxburg a model, Coeptus checked it and decided that it was high quality, with the same style as the game and original, then it doesn’t make the model a “free model”.
Back to the topic, a game cannot just use 2 free models and a very dark map and claim it as a gamemode, unless they’re expecting bad ratings.
Yes, I admit I used 2 Free Models.
And I created a giant black box to create the MAP.
But that’s not all.
I had to modify the guns to make a working kill counter.
Had to make the player invisible.
Had to make them flash once every15 seconds and make them opaque to make the targets.
Make them go back invisible after 2 seconds of exposure.
Had to make it so you light up and opaquefy when you pull out gun.
Had to make you dark when you unequipped.
Added badges
2 cosmetic gamepasses,
And a working win counter.
So before you tell if my game is low effort, make sure to play it first!
Play me.
You will probably change your mind.
Have less words and put a more eye-grabbing image
Also if this is one of your first games, I wouldn’t ask for advice on here. Let things happen by themselves because your going to learn a lot and get good expierence under your belt.
Making the ad having less words would look better. Also, it would look nicer if the ad had more decorations like a simple background and stuff like that!
Ngl. Your game thumbnails look like they were made in Microsoft PowerPoint and, the description is not very easy to understand. Haven’t played the game itself but the rest looks alright, the name is pretty cool!
You shouldn’t put too much words and texts to the ads, focus on the visuals. Put short sentences that includes “free, new, now, vip server, admin” etc. I saw that you want making honest ads, then good luck. You won’t be able to earn money.
@RangerGrant9307 Don’t listen to UnitDEV. He acts synonymously to a troll and says things that are uncalled for and completely unnecessary.
An individual shooter game like AimBlox can write a few dozens more pages of the listings you’ve done.
But seriously I’m not here to criticize low effort creations, even if it took you 100 hours it doesn’t make people feel attracted to a retro style laser tag in a dark map.
So again, either make clickbait ads and pretend the game is actually appealing or you can make an honest one, but people wouldn’t really be that interested.
It’s not a bad ad, I like the color usage!
But instead of all the words in the text, I’d recommend keeping the words that make it supsenseful and dramatic rather than explaining the entire game. If a person would like to know more, they’d have to click on the ad.
I would suggest to keep the words from top to bottom like this:
“Battle in Darkness”
“Strike Undetected”
“But watch your back”
“Duel in the Darkness”
You don’t really need to explain anything in your ad, just keep the main points.
Keep it up!
