Feedback for my FNAF 4 game

Hello! I would like some feedback on my current project. An attempt at a recreation of Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 by Scott Cawthon. I am at the stage where I have completed the flashlight and nearing the end of working on the camera moving. If I could have any feedback on how you think it runs, if there’s too much of something, or anything you like about it, I would greatly appreciate it!

I’m aware the room is quite unfinished

You may test it here if you feel so,

In a look, it is amazing!
However (optinal) the camera transition isnt really looking like in game so im a bit sad for that :frowning: If you can added like an in game camera. It’ll be pretty good! Nice work! 11/10! Also the sound is kinda loud so i suggest you lower it

Could you further explain what you mean by the camera transition?
PS: must be playing at max graphics to take advantage of the circular light

Sorry bout that. I thought it was fnaf 1 camera system. Sorry!!!

The thing your missing here is the key part of Fnaf 4. the darkness.

Notice how it is hard to see the surroundings? In Yours, the flashlight is almost useless due to the background lighting. Try to make the room darker, maybe near pitch black, so the flashlight will add to the eerieness. You want people to have anxiety. Not knowing what lurks until they turn on the flashlight.

Good recreation though! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am having a hardtime using the control’s.

thank you for this!!! I recently made this change as a bunch of people mentioned that the only source of light should be the flashlight so I immediately got to it!

Could you elaborate on why they are hard to use?

Yes I can! When I go to the closet I dont know how to go back to the normal position where the player’s spawn. (Did this make sense)

Yes this makes sense, I’ll be sure to add control help dialogue at the start of it. When you go to the closet you swipe your mouse down (as if you were turning around to look at the bed) and it tweens your camera back

Oh! Thank’s, Is the door not able to click/open expected?

Still working on the door stuff

When I play the game I spawn in complete darkness.

Hey! I have some feedback to mention, but to start off, this a really good recreation with lots of potential! All it needs is some time and some love and it will be pretty good.

But now here’s the things I think you should improve.

  1. When you start you are in total darkness, with no instructions, sure there are instructions in the description, but most players are not going to read the description. Additionally, with no instructions it can be really confusing (and probably make some players quit.) The best fix is to do what FNAF 4 did, which is start with the flashlight on and instructions in the light.

  2. Small one, but add a disclaimer that doors aren’t working. confused me for a minute thinking I was doing something wrong. Or better yet, add disclaimers for all mechanics that aren’t implemented.

  3. Movement, the area in which you move your mouse to in order for it to turn is way to small making it very tedious to move, and for the door it was hard to even click it as I was only able to click in a very small spot.

  4. This isn’t required but change the light to be left click (atleast for computers.) Spacebar isn’t most familiar for flashlights, especially for people who play games often. I would recommend Spacebar for the closing/holding of the doors.

Thats all I really noticed. Keep at it.

This happend to me also! I needed to rejoin multiple times.

No seriously please fix the whole spawning on the baseplate in complete darkness. The flashlight doesnt work because you don’t spawn in the room with the flashlight. I cannot give proper feedback because of this.

I think you should decrease the range of the flashlight.
You should also include a text that fades in after a while that says “Press Space to open and close your flashlight.”.
Also, you should make the camera controlled by A and D or ← → on the keyboard. It’d make camera movement a lot easier.

Instead of using a ClickDetector for the closet opening and closing, you could use a button on the keyboard. Include a text that says “Press (whatever keyboard button) to open or close closet.” that fades in too.

It looks good but try adding arrows on when you click it changes the position of the camera but other then then good job.

Sorry about this, I never really ran into this problem, I’m trying to fix it now
