Now from a player’s perspective, I think this would be a good little sneak peak into what your game has to offer.
Even thought it’s simple, it’s good enough. Great job 
Always remember that everyone has a different style and taste. If it looks nice to you, then it’s good enough!

Well, most thumbnails have the game name and/or logo on it, but other than that, its good enough

maybe you could have some fake players walk around or do something? or maybe a game icon/name? apart from that it looks fine

It looks good! You should add your game name/logo on one of the bottom corners though.
