Hi! My name is Outtlast! I know very original. I’ve been building in Low-Poly style for a month or so and now I started doing some Low-Poly terrain too by using blender. Never used blender before in my builds but I think I made it pretty good.
How could I improve my building?
What could I add to the map?
Here are some screenshots
1: Diversify the color of trees so it contrasts the terrain.
2: Maybe also work on changing up some of the rock formations in the water? Keeps it less repetitive.
Also, when posting on the forums, please take the time to add screenshots of your game in the future, a lot of devs can’t or simply won’t take the time to join your game in order to view your place. It’s encouraged to just add screenshots if you are asking for any kind of help to make it easier on your audience.
Looks really nice, I agree with @Unresolved with that you need to diversify the tree colors. I also recommend taking another look at the pine trees as I noticed some glitches to the top of the trees. Other than that I think you did a wonderful job!
This is incredible work with the overall modeling. A more unrealistic, perky look better compliments a low poly terraria. You should try using more neon colors to make the low poly effect stand out more, along with a brighter different type of lighting that isn’t the shadow map (which is what I am assuming you’re using.)
I think you should add more minor details, like grass, some branches, or something man-made, like fences, shed, or crashed boat, you’ve done a good job with significant details, now repeat that with minor ones; small things make build look better, but don’t overdo it, remember: not enough detail makes project look unfinished, too much makes it look messy, overall looks not too bad.
Looking at the picture you provided for us, I think there needs to be some minor adjustments to the Lighting. Trees look nice I like how you created a different variety of trees, rocks look right there could possibly be more around the water with some other plants, but they should be a bit taller and I feel like the green color choice should be brighter.
To me the land looks pretty empty I think to help give your map more life and depth is to make some plants and other vegetation you could add the extra details to it. In the following picture, it’s some very nice terrain you’ve made in but I believe it won’t hurt to add different details to it instead of trees and rocks you could try adding logs, taller grass, flowers, mushrooms, logs, sticks, that match well.
Speaking of the terrain, you could add more details in the water to make the area feel less empty. Overall, this is a very nice build.
Are you sure this is your first time using blender because this is very good as a first attempt.
I do think though that the water is not very detailed and quite empty aswell as the land terrain.
Possibly putting grass or small flowers make the build alot better than alot of people may believe.
For the water I suggest very small islands for instance about two times the size of your avatar. This would make the sea less empty.
My last thing is possible make it less dull as the build is just one colour. Make the trees have a variety of colour as it will make builds more interesting to look at.
That all I have to say but well done this is great.
Keep building😄
