[FEEDBACK] Mando Helmet

Can i get some feedback on this Mandalorian Helmet before i continue to make the full set.

Edit 1: i Smoothed the helmet and made the brim smaller

First of all, Mandalorians don’t have a top rim around their helmat. I suggest scaling the dome to match up with the blue. Next, I would maybe it so you can’t see every shape. Just make it totally smooth.
(the rim is VERY small)

That’s all, 8/10 without changes, 10/10 with. Can’t wait to see the full set.

It looks pretty good. I agree with Disparrel. Here are some reference images.

yeah i used a reference image which had that rim

i will change this to fit that style and im going to try to smooth it all down but keep the poly count as low as possible

On your refrence, the rim is itty bitty, compared to the one you made. The one you made is giant, and bulges out.

Won’t comment on the accuracy, as I’m assuming he’s referencing the generic Mandalorian race, rather than ‘The Mandalorian’.

Regarding @Disaparrel’s comment, to make it smooth, enable Smooth Shading under the Object tab, or search for it using the F3 menu. (SPACE for former 2.79b users)

You’ll then want to add an Edge Split modifer to preserve your sharp edges. Smooth does not mean high poly; I exemplify this as an aside in a former post of mine.

Likewise, it appears you made the dome of the helmet from hand using extrusions. I’d recommend remaking that topology with proportional editing so you can have the desired continuous curve that you appear to be missing out on currently. Nonetheless however, Smooth Shading will help hide those sins.

i only have 2 weeks experience with blender so im a massive noob to it, im also not really a star wars super fan so i just went for the generic, ill try my best to incorporate these into later projects.

You can only improve with experience so keep at it.

Nonetheless, astounding model for only two weeks with Blender. Great work.

I think it looks good some parts are not smooth I would recommend to smooth it but I would rate it a 7.5/10.

Looks really nice and I really have nothing to criticize about it man; I’d love if this were a hat for UGC too but that would lead to copyright issues :frowning:

Nice one. Two pointers:

  1. Consider using a UV
  2. Increase the poly, smooth it.
