Hey! Recently I decided I was going to revamp an old Showcase of mine using some new tricks I’ve picked up since I began to develop it.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. This is my first true showcase, and I wanted to display some of my affinity for building. There is a slight backstory in the description to go along with the game, and I hope you guys find it somewhat interesting.
The Showcase is located here and i HIGHLY recommend using sound in-game.
Here are some images though I reccommend joining the game:
The sound effects are amazing, I got shivers! I really like the showcase how it is, and I don’t think there’s much else needed. One thing though, you should have a script that keeps the player zoomed into first person. The grey-scale avatar doesn’t look the best. Zooming in will also make the player feel more connected, and the game more realistic.
I really loved that showcase, please keep doing what you’re doing!
Have a lovely day,
Emma
The appearance of your showcase looks very interesting and has a good architecture for the house.
Though might I suggest you work on the lighting of your game because one of your images is facing the sun, though it lacks lighting.
Overall, I appreciate your work and hope you continue to improve this.
Right off the bat, I was a bit skeptical for why it was grey, but when I played further, I understood almost instantly. The music you used was downright amazing, and the build was just so beautiful. The exterior was fully detailed, and man I gotta say, this is very impressive.
Lemme now start with glitches, bugs, or something out of place.
When you join the game, the elevator’s opening is not faced towards you, so you have to jump in the window to actually access that elevator. I couldn’t really see the button since the button to me was grey itself, so with the grey background you could not see it that well ( for me at least )
When the elevator stops, there is a chance you can fall, because the elevator is shaky, and it moves a lot, so when that happens, you are NOT able to get back up there.
Once you’re up at the house, you can see a root clipping through the stairs a bit, and I wish there was an interior of the house, cause that would’ve made it so much better.
Once I pressed the button, the sky was changing, (I don’t know if you meant to put this) but I’d make it sink in with the music. Anyways, after the button is pressed, the lanterns just float up in the air never to be seen again, and you are stuck in that view with the beautiful music for the rest of the server until you leave
Overall, it looks amazing. You have managed to capture a realistic black and white scene with adequate attention to the environment and design, I enjoy seeing the level of hard work, and detail into your build.
The spawn sticks out a great deal, but I do like how its like a connection to the real world. However, I think you could try adding other variety of trees, consider having some curled upwards towards the sky to better match in the setting, but still maintain the same shape. I can see great work was put in the showcase as well, however, I don’t think it matches with your build. The tree has a type of low poly feel to it consider adding other types maybe make them have different angles instead of them look repetitive.
The cabin looks abandoned, maybe have some vegetation connected to the building or door to have more of an abandoned feel to it Finally, some mountains are missing, leaving a big area of water. While this isn’t a big concern. Overall, I look forward to seeing more great showcases in the future.
Wow, this is a thorough reply, and this is why I love turning to the DevForums for feedback…
I really appreciate everything you said, and I will work towards making some fixes (already made the music sink in more)
In addition, an interior may be coming soon to help support the story line a bit.
Oh, wow! I love the low-poly assets, some of my favourites being the trees and vines, however, I also love just about everything else! The amount of attention to detail in this showcase is insane, I’ve never seen such an amazing showcase be so unknown to the community, that being truly undeserving of this incredible showcase!
Love your work, Aiden, and I can’t wait to see what you have to offer in the future for showcases!
