I have always wanted to see more diversification of games on Roblox, and one of those is the 2D game genre. While there are a plethora of already existing 2D games. I haven’t seen any game that has a sort of hand-drawn style to it.
Therefore, I’m taking it upon myself to create something unique here on the platform (aka, a 2D sidescrolling storytelling game). The game revolves around a nurse and an elderly patient. The player plays as the nurse, but the game itself explores themes such as emotional concealment, regret, and perspectives. The nurse does her job/shift at the ER and then goes to visit the elderly patient in order to help him fulfill his final wish (meeting his estranged son). The nurse learns more about the backstory the more the story progresses.
Of course, this is not even complete or close to it. But this is what I have done so far, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this prototype.
Thanks! Glad you like it! So far, it has taken me a month to come up with all the assets and everything else too.
I’m building this game by myself, so it’s really time-consuming, but luckily there are great programs like Adobe Character Animator, which just make my life way easier when it comes to 2D animation.
Also, I have to manually import each individual frame, but it’s worth it at the end.
Really happy you liked it, though!
I regularly visit devforum to discover 2d games on the roblox platform and this footage is amazing… I love the use of the background and foreground layers and the style reminds me of Fran Brow! The hand drawn style is charming, it’s true that most 2d games out on roblox use vector or pixel styles, a few examples being: Pixel Arena, cultivation game, and Cake Factory Maker. its refreshing to see the point and click story style utilizing 2d character rigs on Roblox.
This 3D game looks INSANELY GOOD AND UNIQUE FOR ROBLOX! Excellent job on it so far! How long did it take for you to create this game as of now? When will you release it? It looks awesome and cool for a Roblox game!
Thank you so much! I really got inspired by the creators of some great games such as Little Misfortune, Sally Face, and even Fran Bow, and many more other amazing games! I’m really glad you like this concept. The game is still in the making, but I’m so glad you find it charming!
Thank you so much! As of now, it has taken me one month to produce what I’ve done so far. But it is still in its earlier stages, which means I still have a lot of scripting and asset creation to do! Therefore, I’m not quite sure about the release date. Glad you liked it tho!
