Feedback on a game concept for a tribe-like game

I have been working on and off on developing this passion project for a couple months now and I am wondering if people would be interested in playing a game like this. Would an idea like this be viable to have a player base on while being interesting?

Description: A tribe-like survival game about building bases and collecting resources in a persistent world. Within this world, you would have to search for materials to help improve your equipment and your base. The world would contain harvestable flora, harvestable minerals, potentially hazardous animals, other players and their bases, NPC bases, and NPCs behaving similarly to players.

Features:

  • Large map featuring multiple islands of varying size, mountainous regions, and a cave network. Map would be mostly pre-determined.
  • Randomized “biomes” which determine locations of flora resources.
  • Building system which would allow you to build structures, like houses and crafting stations, around the map.
  • A system which would treat players and NPC “characters” the same with how they interact with the world.
  • NPCs which you can have interactions with. NPCs would try to behave the same as players and can be interacted by other characters to have NPCs work for them.
  • Furniture building system that allows you to build your own furniture out of items and then transport furniture to other characters.
  • Crafting system involving combining four items in pre-determined combos to create a better item and putting items through structures to “refine” it, ex: putting 2 coal and 1 iron in a furnace and waiting 30 seconds to make 1 steel bar.
  • Having a persistant world which saves your inventory and what you build. However, when you leave the game, you become an NPC which is left to try to survive on its own from hostile situations. You would need to build a safe base using strong structures and other NPCs to run upkeep.
  • Dynamic clouds with a dynamic weather system
  • Farm the flora of the lands
  • Fight other characters and pillage their bases
  • Overthrow NPC leaders and control NPC societies
  • Survive raids from players and hostile NPC societies.
  • Explore an ocean and watch out for pirate.
  • Build mechanisms by building structures on boats and carts.

What are your thoughts on this concept? Would there be any issues with structuring the game play to be fun and engaging?

  • Sounds viable and interesting

The persistent world concept would be pretty impressive to see in action. In fact, most of the things on this list would be notable accomplishments. The first potential problem I see here could be performance due to the strain of the many features. Second problem would be having your work destroyed while you’re away from the game. Players would feel like they weren’t given a fair chance to defend themselves, and that they were punished for having obligations outside of the game.

Damn, this sounds like the survival game I wanted to try and make on my own just to play around lmao.

I can defiantly see this game on the front page although it’s going to take a lot of work and you have to separate yourself from games like Booga Booga and Survivor

Maybe make it so you’ll be the NPC after rejoining, depends if the NPC still lives.
