And kinda detached body
The detached bones from the body works well in this sense, obviously since there are no more muscles or ligaments to hold them together anymore they just fall apart. I really haven’t seen too many people do this in their own games tbh
Soo… I should add some muscles? I’ve tried it, but I make it way too realisticly and it is probably gross
If it’s been two years, then no. The skeleton being this far into decomposition there’d be nothing other than bone.
-Okay. Can you be my builder? If yes then my discord is Marekmarian#0033
I’m already working on my own project I’ve been thinking of for a while so, sadly, no. I’m sorry about that man, but you do seem like you’ve got the right footing on your own. I hope you do well with it!
Pretty nice. Although I probably couldn’t do better (lol), I think maybe messing around with the terrain colors to darken the place up.
This is amazing, no complaints.
Thanks, if you have any idea to improve it please tell me :3
If the town was evacuated 2 years ago nature should already taken its course the town should look more abandoned and have that type of feel always base it off how many years it’s been there and go from there add broken objects on the ground and add a cracked and dirt road stains, fallen parts, ect.
The town should be taken by nature already and shouldn’t look that clean since no human activity was taking care of the land, buildings ect.
There’s different approaches you could go for add cars in the grass or in the driveway so it could look more like a town that has been there for a while now. Ideas would be placing stains foliage growing on the buildings and out. It’s good progress though.
Looks great! However add more little detail like spilt trash cans or fallen logs.
Even though this is made up of edited free models, it feels really cheap.
Nothing seems to fit together. The SkyBox, which has really tall mountains, doesn’t fit the unnatural flat ground. The building have different styles. One is bright yellow, one is dark mouldy green. The road looks too clean aswell.
The gas station looks like its about to crumble, while the clean, brand new yellow house on the left looks like its just been built a few days ago. That green old mouldy house on the left looks like its about to crumble, while there’s a random mini low-poly style house with a low-poly tree next to it, that look brand new.
Overall, this feels like a puzzle with random puzzle pieces from other random sets that are very different in style.
Oh right… I am not good at styles…
So i think the biggest thing you can change to improve stuff is the road layout.
Roads don’t just start and stop at nothing, roads in this sparse of an area would not have sidewalks, and wouldn’t even likely be paved. (Also, unless you’re in middle of nowhere america, you’re not likely to find this sort of perfect 90 degree intersection)
I’d say swap the roads out for some dusty dirt ones, Move the gas station to be on the corner, and add some gravel/dirt paving underneath it. Gravel areas are really hard for plant life to overtake, so even with the level of decay you’re going for, I’d say you’re still fine to have them be gravel.
for the house placement, I’d say… get some more of them, but don’t have them be right up against the road. congregate them around the intersection, with increased spacing as you go away from it.
Maybe add a few live and dead trees scattered about to fill the empty spots in.
I would also work a bit with the atmosphere and lighting to give it a better feel.
Edit:
Always beware of freemodels and the stuff that hides in them, personally if I were you I wouldn’t try and make a big game composed mostly of freemodels, It gives off a vibe that the developer didn’t really do much other than inserting models. Other than that, it looks great so far.
Looks kinda new from these screenshots tbh. If I were you, I’d add some dense fog (preferably a pale brown), some rusted air raid sirens, use the terrain tool to add a bit of mud/dirt on the roads and sidewalks, and add a couple of sinkholes (maybe a part of the road falling into one would look good).
Thank you all for those amazing tips! I will try doing it tommorow it is late night now…
I’m not sure what you mean by that but by style i meant what features it has.
You’re trying to go for a abandoned style right? So make your buildings fit to that style.
Receiving criticism is much better than receiving compliments. I’m trying to help you improve, not discourage you.
I would also suggest building your own assets. Free models are useful but if you’re going to use them for everything, then your game feels cheap.
I have no idea how to build or make meshes, I’m not even an artist I am only a scripter, whenever I make a building doors are only thing that break it…
And some free models have great doors…
Every free model has a different style. You’re just mashing up all of these different free models with different styles. It feels odd, like a dream. I guarantee you there is no game out there with more than 50 people playing it seriously that is made up of only free models.
Building is easy. Very easy. All you need is patience. Of course you’re not going to make builds as good as some models out there when you start, but if you’re going to stick to that idea, you’ll just give up.
There is no easy way out.
