Feedback on escape game

Hello guys, I’ve made an escape game, the game is 90% done, just needs some polishing. However towards the end of development, I’m starting to doubt if it’s a fun game or not. Some people have played but have not returned so i can only assume it wasn’t that fun. If you could test play it and give feedback it would be much appreciated, also please heavily critique the game, anything you think it’s lacking or needs removing please say, thanks in advance!

Dude this game is actually so much fun, I’m totally going to play this with friends and family when it releases please let me know.

Here’s some feedback:

  • You have 1 Map, please get some different versions of the Hospital, maybe 5-6, looking slightly different. It will make it so much more playable.

  • Models inside your Map are like 3x the size of my character, I don’t think that’s a good look.

  • You need abient noise and sounds when the Doctor is very close, sound is actually so vital to games and is often overlooked.

  • Player customisation, personally, I’d rather use my own Avatar in games rather than pre-made ones, I think this would be beneficial to your game too, because if I were playing with friends I’d like to know who to follow when they have the Key. (I get it’s in a hospital, but you could perhaps make our custom characters wear hospital clothing?)

  • Shiftlock is enabled, I didn’t even know there was a sprint option till I disabled my shiftlock.

  • Objective: I didn’t really know what the objective was, but I’m guessing it’s just to escape, or survive?

  • GUI is alright but could use some improvements

Thanks for testing the game out, I’m glad you enjoyed, I’m going to go through all the points you made carefully and release updates.
Sound for the Doctor for when he is close is a good idea, for the ambient sound, I was out of ideas for what would fit a hospital escape theme. If you have any suggestions I would love to know.
I have thought about more maps, but I’m not too sure what other types of maps would fit well, if you have any suggestions please do say.
Thanks so much for your time and precious feedback.

Hey bro, just first of all I did like the game and it was really fun, a reason players might not come back is just because there isn’t a lot of different content. The gameplay loop is wonderful there just isn’t enough of it. Regarding what I would change without just regurgitating what tetoshi said:

I would make sure your #1 focus is on more sound design since that is such an easy way to make everything much more satisfying or scary. For ex, the wood placing cutscene, crawling, some sort of audio indicator when the monster is close, just creepy sounds everywhere would be awesome.

Not sure if it is a bug or design choice, but the monster cannot go through the keycard only door, nor can other players go through that door if they haven’t personally unlocked it with their own keycard, same logic goes for the final escape door I believe.

Crawling should reduce walk speed as well.

I also did not realize there was a sprint, I would add little indicators of what key sprinting and crawling is just so the player doesn’t have to test out every key themselves.

Also please add a way to learn where caged players are on the map, there’s no way to find out where the players that need rescue are without using chat, and if both players don’t know the map it’s not easy.

Thank you so much for taking your time to test the game, you mentioned really important points to really polish the game. Im going to use yours and Tetoshi’s posts to refer back to as I continue to develop the game.
Your right, sound is very lacking in the game, I probably tackle that first. Also The indicator feature is a good idea. Tetoshi also mentioned lack of objective in the game for players, I don’t know how I didn’t pay attention to these when developing.
That keycard door was intended that way, I thought it would be more engaging for players to collect their own keys to use, like a “every man for themselves” kind of thing😂. as opposed to joining the game and finding every door has been opened and just walking to the finish. Thank you again for your time and feedback.
