This game has no name, but if you have one, give it a go! So far, known developers are @Zeumus (scripter, planner), @Kindoodle (artist?, builder), @Mightty (planner, scripter, builder), and myself (animator, builder, planner). Anyways, the game is not your average murder game. Murderers can use all types of weapons, each with its own advantages and downsides—and using weapons to kill them is not the only option. Throw people out of windows, choke them, and more!
Okay, so what else is different? The game’s planning isn’t done, but there will be more than just “innocent”, “sheriff”, and “murderer”.
Roles:
- Murderer—must kill everyone else to win; very strong armour; small team of them
- Police—has gun; strong armour
- Police Dog—can do light melee damage to murderer; relatively faster than humans; can see trail of every person (trail disappears)
- Doctor—can revive people after a certain age mount of time after having x health; kneels over them and launches a mini-game where they must apply bandages to certain areas before they die after x time
- Detective—can examine bodies to reveal twenty-five possible killers; can examine blood to reveal thirty possible killers; every body/blood puddle examined eliminates an innocent from list
- Undercover—like the police role but without clothes or armour (will likely not be murderer’s target)
- Security—can put one camera in map; must retrieve it to get back
- Athlete—can sprint five percent faster than the player’s sprint speed
- Psychologist—can reveal whether someone is innocent or not by staying very close to someone for one minute (this is risky but very powerful); may do this only five times
- Child—shorter; slightly slower; can fit through small spaces adults cannot; never murderer but has somewhat low health; only one per game
- News Reporter—can use ability on bodies to report dead people after examining bodies for twenty seconds; risky because report appears on phones of anyone with a phone (with name of reporter signed for murderer if murderer has phone and has reveal-news-reporter-on-reports ability)
- Hacker—assists murderer by using their tablet to alter the map, lighting, and support them in many other ways
- Many more to come!
Okay, so these will be big servers: fifty players! This really adds to the mystery of the game. Maybe this will lag, but this game was meant for good computers, anyways. As you might have predicted, I came up with so many roles for what the word roles can mean—players actually play a part in the game most of the time. One of my pet peeves with murder games is that, often times, as an innocent, there isn’t very much to do. You just walk around and run from the murderer; nothing else, really. But now you can help solve the mystery in a way never seen before, and as the murderer, you try your best to make the mystery all the more mysterious!
Okay. Being the murderer is a big role, so let’s dedicate a couple paragraphs to everyone’s favourite role. As the murderer, your goal is to kill everyone without being shot down by the police. Traditionally, knives have been used for murderers; however, I want to have variety! Knives will be kept, but what about other weapons? Go out there and shoot someone with a gun, or, heck, even a bow! It might even feel like an FPS, for gameplay is in first-person! Set a mine, snipe an innocent, go all traditional and stab someone, and more! I’m not saying you have to use weapons to win. If someone’s standing by a window at a skyscraper, it might hurt if you give a little shove. Or if you want, choke someone with a curtain, but be aware people will hear things such as glass breaking and tearing, so it’s risky—an icon representing what has happened will appear at the area at which you have caused such a sound. Always open windows before throwing someone! Don’t think, however, killing with weapons is risk-free. Not only can someone walk in on you, but you might want to use a mop. Remember the detective role? You don’t want them to get that blood, do you? Certain ways of killing people are clean but often have other risks involved. Be strategic and choose the right way for the job to reduce risk!
Oh, great. Someone walked in on me while I was peacefully throwing someone out of the window onto what was totally a very fluffy mattress. They run away, but you look to your right and see a dead policeman. Before you throw him onto the mattress as well, you have a bright idea. You switch clothes and style your hair perfectly. There are tons of ways to confuse the innocent, and this is one of the ways you can look innocent! Your name above your head will also change to the person’s name you have just swapped with. It should be noted, however, that people will figure out someone’s missing from the party eventually, so this is risky, especially if you decide to swap clothes multiple times. There are also tools innocents have that might help them solve the mystery in this situation.
Yes, tools! No, not only aesthetic ones (though these are available). You lucky innocents! For example, you could buy a phone. Because in-game chat is bubble chat only, you’ll need to have some way to chat over long distances. Each round, if someone else who is innocent has a phone, you’ll be able to text someone until they can’t text (slash they’re dead)! However, this is only one person. Great! So now you know one person (out of fifty people) is innocent, but the mystery isn’t solved yet, because how do you plan on convincing everyone else they’re innocent? You could be a murderer hoping that saying someone is innocent will make you seem innocent. And murderers can have phones, too. They just can’t text anyone.
There will also be innocent perks, not just murderer perks! Innocents can get perks for certain classes. There are also general perks for those who like to just be generally good. You could, for example, upgrade the speed of your athlete role, the time it takes to save someone as a doctor, the armour as a murderer or police, and more! Oh, this game is going to be so much fun to make and play! ^.^
Much is to come for this game, and I’m really imagining having it out there with people enjoying every second of gameplay! Obviously, the planning isn’t done. The mentioned ideas are only bits and pieces; can’t wait to have double, triple, quadruple, pentuple, hextuple, septuple, infinite more ideas for this! Oh, and keep this a secret. Dev Forum members only are allowed to see this, right? O_o
