Feedback on game icon

Hello,

These past days I ran a sponsorship on a game I have been working on to get a few test players in order to get some first impressions on the first time user experience. However, the CTR was very low (around .21). Me and my brother decided that it was the game icon’s fault (since that is the only thing you see in sponsorships) and we redesigned it. We felt like the new one is way better. However, the CTR was still low (about .44). Arguably it doubled, but not even close the CTR we were expecting.

I am posting here to ask your opinion on our icon.

First icon (.21 CTR):

Second and improved icon (.44 CTR):

I am mostly interested in opinions about the 2nd icon and suggestions on how to improve it for better CTR.

Thank you

Those logos are very cool! Furthermore, I think a .44 ctr is actually pretty decent considering people get multiple ads for every page they visit and aren’t likely to click one at all. Although, it might help adding redeemable codes to your game and having a "CODE: " featured on the ad so people get the idea they’re being rewarded if they click on your ad.

I read in other forums that a CTR below 1% is considered bad. It should be around 2-3%, however, this does not seem to happen for us.

Those are so good keep it up with all the good work!

I think that you should improve the lighting on the 2nd one, and it also doesn’t really “pop out.”

Edit: I like the 2nd one better, I see how that improved!

2nd one is definitely better! Only thing I could say is maybe improve the logo a bit more, for the vectors, try to make it like this, so the text and vectors dont touch directly. That is just something I do with my logos, but if you don’t like it, dont feel obligated to do so. Also try using vectors more creatively. For example maybe put a fishing rod for the I or an anchor for the I. Small touches like that can really improve it.

Other than that I don’t have much to say, I like the layout and think it is neat!

I agree, I will try something like this in my next iteration. The only problem is that you need some imagination for that part and I lack in that chapter

Lol, you could probably come up with some ideas, you got this!

This looks extremely good.
Maybe you could try to play with colors to see what looks the best.

Ooh I think this looks really good! One thing you could try do is have a fish on the end of the fishing rod, that would look really cool!!

You could make the character in the 2nd picture a little bit lighter.

But the game is not ready yet.

You might want to make the blue beam yellow, yellow is known to stand out more then other colors. Although if you do this you might have to do some other tweaking (to the text for example) for contrast.

I would change the thumbnail also to make it more eye-catching.

The one with the dialoge, Nemo and with the timer

Indeed those are less eye-catching. However, when sponsoring, CTR is measured only based on clicks. People get to see the thumbnails only AFTER they have clicked so for the purposes of CTR it does not matter.

We will change those thumbnails before our next sponsorship probably.
