Feedback on game teaser!

The following video is a teaser for my upcoming game (which is still very early in development). Keep in mind that this video is NOT a trailer and therefore isn’t meant to display all the features of the game, it’s just a teaser. I am welcoming any sort of criticism as this is the first video I have ever made.

The music is made by me too using SoundTrap. (SoundTrap provides the “sound”, I just put them together.). Check it out: https://www.soundtrap.com

The teaser looks great!

i think you should be hiding the CoreGui to make your teaser appear more professional. You can do it by pressing Ctrl+Shift+G if you have edit permissions in the place you’re currently in.

I used a LocalScript in StarterGui to hide the CoreGui, and I was able to hide everything except for that Roblox logo. I’ve heard that the Roblox logo is impossible to remove.

Disabling the CoreGui using that method hides all CoreGui elements, including the mouse and the Roblox logo. You can also disable custom GUIs using Ctrl+Shift+C!

It doesn’t hide the Roblox logo:

Hello so first of all I just want to say this looks very good and even more as this is a first time for you. There are a few things I would like to say just to let you improve on it. First of all you can see the Roblox symbol in the corner of the video that makes it look like all you did was record it and put 0 effort in it. I would also say that I think the time that the rocket went into space was a little quick and could have been a little longer to make it seem more realistic. Also there is a bit were when it launches from the pad the bar starts to flash that looks a little strange. You can find a picture of what I mean below.

Ctrl+Shift+C for your own GUIs, Ctrl+Shift+G for Roblox GUIs, they’re different binds.

On a different note, you should also record your game on roblox’s client if possible, to provide the video with a better resolution.

Do you not press it when inside the game and the logo is not a custom UI. The logo is a UI that Roblox put’s in themself.

You can just crop out the icon when you edit the video.

@LifeDigger: The bar that flashes is most likely because of the camera moving, I’m not sure how to fix that. I’m not using a professional editor, so you kinda correct in the fact that all I did was record it, I disabled all GUI’s (except for the Roblox logo which I couldn’t disable), I only added the pictures and text with the “editor”.

Also to let everybody know the camera movement is a cutscene that I’ve scripted, I’m not “moving the camera” manually in case that’s something that is helpful for you guys to know.

@3rdhoan123: I don’t know how to crop it out, I tried to but the only options I have is to “draw” on the video or to trim it, there’s no crop button for me.

Also, I’m using the default editor or whatever you call it that comes with my laptop, I couldn’t find any other editors that didn’t have a watermark that takes up like half the screen.

So, if anybody has suggestions for an editor please let me know (preferably with a link to it).

I use this for editing my YouTube videos and works fine for me but not sure how well it would be for this but you can always try.
Also it’s free with no watermarks!!

Not bad at all. I can see myself trying to create a teaser for my game that would look exactly like this, just need a few more adjustment though:

  • Video begins too abruptly, I suggest adding a short intro to go along with the theme of the video. A black screen for a few seconds and a cassette tape sound effect that plays the countdown for example.
  • It’s too fast paced, it needs more buildup, the sky changes too fast compared to the velocity/speed of the rocket. If you want to make the teaser short, then the rocket should move faster, it doesn’t make sense that the sky changes so rapidly before the rocket even move a meter from the ground.
The camera location should be on the ground and closer to the rocket itself since the diameter of the rocket in your video isn’t that wide/noticeable, try to replicate the camera position in here:

When the rocket launches, the camera should follow the rocket going up instead of just looking at it from below, it would make a more climactic scene with the sky slowly turning dark while the rocket disassemble or somethin.
Just try to end the scene with this minus the clouds, and then that part of the music plays, title shows up, etc:
  • The background is too empty, just add some bushes behind the location or some sea instead of an extremely obvious fog and a square baseplate, it would be less obvious if you followed the step above.
  • Add more effects, make the fogs larger, yadda yadda yadda. You know what to do, just use a reference or something else.
