Feedback on Guardians: Battle Arena

Guardians is the most advanced and visually stunning multiplayer online battle arena on Roblox. Choose from a variety of magical characters, fierce monsters, and tricky sprites - with new characters being added regularly.

Use your abilities in conjunction with other guardians to defeat your enemies, devastate their towers, and ultimately destroy their base.

Guardians

You can select a character known as a “guardian”, with unique abilities and differing styles of play.

How to play

A team wins by destroying all the towers in at least one lane (top, middle, or bottom) before destroying the enemy base.

Towers have to be destroyed in order (starting with the closest tower to the river).

You guardian’s abilities cost ‘mana’. You can recharge your mana at mana pools (there are four located on the map).

You can also recharge your health and mana at your team’s fountain - situated behind the base.

Feedback

I’m looking for all forms of feedback including:

  • visual appearance
  • GUI
  • models
  • gameplay
  • guardian balancing (in particular)

‘Guardians’ is currently in public beta. This means that:

  • guardians have not been balanced so might be over or under-powered
  • there may be unexpected bugs or errors

If you’re providing feedback on a bug or error, please make sure to tell me:

  • which guardian you were playing
  • what you were doing at the time (moving, casting an ability, attacking enemie/structure) etc

I cannot play using my xbox controller.

This game just looks so good for roblox. Some of the attacks feel bugged and balancing needs to happen. Overall this Is a cool game.

I’ve only focused on building it for PC at this stage but will look into what I might change so it works for an Xbox controller.

Could you provide any more details on the attacks feeling bugged? We’re they slow to respond, inaccurate for example?

The electric attacks felt janky and delayed. maybe increase the attack speed?

So was it “Crackle” you were playing? And was it one of his abilities, all, or the default attack?

I think it was the thunder and default attack

Thanks - I’ve amended the attack speeds and animations. I also fixed a bug so it’s easier to use the lightning bolt to attack towers.

This is a very cool game. I really really love the visuals, skill effects and the modelings.
They are just too cool!

However I found some minor visual bugs on the UIs, while playing as ‘Hasaki’, it happened all the time and I think it is related with its passive ability called Courage.


Also more ambience effects, such as random crows flying would be really nice!

Thanks again for taking the time to test the game and provide quite a lot of feedback in live.

Here are some of the changes already implemented based on the latest feedback:

  • GUI has been tweaked (and currently investigating the possibility of taking into account physical display size as well as resolution)
  • buff icons have been fixed so they don’t have a gap or overlap (I added a debounce that accounts for quick changes)
  • ranged guardians have had their default attack damage nerfed
  • recall (teleport to base) is now activated using 5 rather than T (to reduce accidental teleporting while typing in chat)

In the backlog:

  • adding critters (crows, bugs, spiders etc) to add to ambiance
  • normal surfaceappearance to be enhanced on tree leaves
  • more location specific audio (lava cracks, wisps etc)

Were hosting another play and feedback session this Saturday at 10pm BST.

We should have at least 10 people already joining the event. So hop onto the experience around this time and have a go at the experience and provide your feedback here.

One of the major changes we’ve made is to add a spectator mode so up to 10 people can watch a match. So if you don’t want to play but still want to help out, you can watch a match and look out for things that players may miss while they’re playing.

In collaboration with QA Central, we’re running another play and feedback session today (Saturday 4 June @ 11PM BST).

We’ve currently got 30+ testers signed up, so should be a good session. A lot of improvements have been made on the back of the last sessions including:

  • unit/structure targeting abilities now use a direct raycast on objects rather than relying on the raycast on the terrain (more accurate)
  • unit/structure targeting abilities (including default attack) now highlight the object being attack
  • unit targeting abilities use a larger hitbox for characters to make it easier for you to hit them
  • sound module now allows for localised random sounds, simply by putting more sounds in a part will automatically pick one to play
  • buff scripting has been simplified reducing server strain to 20% what it was previously
  • freecam (SHIFT+P) has been disabled
  • dogu15 rigs with 10 custom looks
  • new server creation and management lobby so you can pick which game to join
  • tutorial to watch in the server lobby for players new to MOBAs

Hi everyone

Just a bit of an update as it’s been a while since I posted here. Lots of things to mention.

The lobby:

  • now allows you to create a server, or pick a running game and join that
  • has a global leaderboard so you can see if you can get into the top ten winners and rank against other players
  • has been updated to look a bit slicker (animated mesh deformation and flipbook particles)

Guardian selection:

  • choosing a guardian has moved from the lobby to the game (part of allowing you to join ongoing games)
  • new guardians have been added, bringing it up to a total of 12

GUI:

  • the game now works for mobile although this is still in an early phase (the UI changes to work with thumbpad and touch)
  • the GUI has been changed for PC to show the profile picture of your character and make the teleport button quicker to click if you use a mouse (for fast escapes)
