Feedback on mining incremental

I’m looking for extra feedback on my game before I get ready for release. It’s an incremental mining game with a lot of stuff to unlock.

I’ve been working on it for a few months and I think its ready to release soon after I get some thumbnails, I’ve only done some private testing with friends etc so I’d appreciate any feedback.

Lmk if you encounter any bugs, any feedback is welcome

Hey :waving_hand:

Most important question in the whole universe - :sparkles: What makes your mining game different than what we had before on Roblox? :sparkles:

I am lowkey not joking, it’s really that important to get it right (especially, if you want players to enjoy playing for a long time).

Then, from your answer, I could instantly tell if your game’s main concept needs improvement.

It’s how you think about game design that will decide if you will succeed or not.

Just guessing

you could’ve answered your question by playing the game. i won’t answer your question too much but the game is original. im just asking for opinions on the game, not if it will succeed.

Hey! I really like the tapping on thermal heater, can you upgrade the combo later?

I got soft locked by digging down until I realized “PLOT” is a teleport button (inventory full), you should clarify that.

Great music and transition for the music, i like the art style. progression feels good and meaningful.

I don’t think the STATS board does anything important enough to take up the space, your mine feels kinda tight and claustrophobic. I think a shop vendor thats looking for a specific mineral or item would be great.

I got really excited when I found an old mine shaft / rails etc. that was cool

You should have one REBIRTH machine instead of REBIRTH 1 and REBIRTH 2, It should be combined which would also help get some space back in your plot

this is a lot of dense information I don’t understand and it scares me

EDIT1:

I would set a range for the player to zoom in/out - there’s no need to zoom out the max range on this game especially with the fog settings.

EDIT2:

I understand this request is a big work project but being able to work a mine with a friend would be really cool. While I was playing a friend joined and the first thing he did was run to the end of my mine and try to help me dig it out

EDIT3:

I was thinking it would be nice to tell which ore is which while mining then I realized you have it in a hard to read font , you should make this clearer. Adding a black gradient background to the text would probably help since your using Neon for the ore parts

EDIT4:

You need a sound effect for when your inventory is full and you can’t anything else to it

EDIT5:

I came back over to reset my mine and didn’t like that i had to scroll up, can you have these move back to the top when a player walks away?

EDIT6:

This game lends itself to vibe/talking/social aspects but I don’t think you designed the UI with the chatbox in mind it looks messy. The default leaderboard in the top right is fine since nothing is is really in that area of the screen but you definitely need to do something about the chat box or the UI elements under it. I would suggest utilizing the space in the bottom right of the players screen since its not utilized. You could also swap the 2x speed button with the ui elements on the left since it takes up less space and can be positioned underneath the chatbox

EDIT7

Went over to checkout my friends cave and really didn’t like how blank everything was. Not sure what to do about this exactly tbh, is it important for other players to visit each others plots?

Thanks, no but that is a really good idea, I’ll probably add it as an upgrade.

This is good to know, I know a lot of players are used to mining down. I should probably put the plot button in the tutorial though.

That would be useful for obtaining or unlocking special pickaxes honestly. I’ll think about it for later updates.

And about the space of the boards, rebirth 1, 2, stats, etc. I decided to keep them separate to mainly fill up space so it doesn’t look empty and feels like you unlocked something. And then also make it easy to see that you unlocked something. But I’ll keep this in mind.

Once you rebirth you unlock a new floor, so space isn’t really an issue. More like I need to fill a lot of empty space lol.

Actually thank you for bringing this up because I wanted to add it but didn’t know if it was worth it. It would be really fun to mine with a friend so I’ll probably add that before release.

Thanks for all the valuable feedback I appreciate it. I’ll try polishing everything you mentioned.

I spent a lot of time finding music to perfectly fit the game thanks. I built the game around the main song that plays in most areas, tried to make the game feel like that song.

Yeahhh the scrolling frames are a problem, I’ll just make the canvas size not so big so you cant scroll out of view

Yeah, you definitely captured the vibes of the songs with the set pieces perfectly.

I really think this game needs multiplayer support, maybe even mineral trading between plots? Not sure if that makes sense but its a free idea I guess lol. I actually mined straight in at first, my friend got stuck and was like what do I do? I didn’t even consider mining down until they said something, but I also always “stripmined” in Minecraft.

You could fill the space in your plot with Barrels, crates your old pickaxes as you unlock new ones ( like put them on hooks as set decoration) maybe a display with your rarest rock found etc. I just don’t think you need all these giant boards.

This is pretty good though overall

Some sort of trading/gifting was planned, which is the mailbox outside your plot. I avoided adding trading and any gifting because I was worried about balancing. But now that I think about it I can add more strict constraints on trading if I ever add it.

Originally I was working on this but I scrapped it (because I ran out of room). I’ll look into what I can do to compact all the boards though. Showing off your pickaxes/ore is something I wanted for a while, so this I will definitely add.

Thanks for trying out the game though, lots of good feedback from this.

And about getting stuck, not entirely sure what I could do to stop players from doing that. My idea is detecting if they do that, giving them a UI hint w/ an arrow, and setting a flag so they dont see that again. The reason I went with horizontal mining was because of MC strip mining

Yo I think dynamite is pretty boring, you might wanna create a louder explosion and use the rumble on a controller like you do for other stuff in the game, maybe some screen shaking I think it would be fun to have a fuse you lay that you walk away from the dynamite before you set it off, could also help the player understand the safe distance to explosion.
