Hello, first time posting and would like some feedback on my progress. This is my first time developing a game this detailed and not littered with free models.
Game design is inspired by Vibe games on Roblox. Convenience store design is inspired by the Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart. Crepe stand is inspired by crepe stands in Japan. I added things that would be found in a Japanese convenience store like bento boxes, sandwiches, oden, and bread.
[Updated]
After reading feedback, I made a few small and drastic changes.
Screenshots comparing what I had a week ago and now.
[Before]
Even though the old eating area looked nice, I changed it to fit the store better.
Changed the lighting design and made the inside look brighter. The lighting is a mixture of light blue and white lights. Also added some color contrast effect.
Added some more shelves of food and drinks.
Changed the texture on the walls, changed the store colors, and added a store name. Kuidaore is an untranslatable Japanese word that means a love of food and drinks so much that you want to spend all of you money on it.
This is all what I plan on having in the game. The convenience store, crepe stand, small playground, and the bus stop. I plan on adding trees on the grass areas and add some secrets around the map to find.
I would like to know any ideas on lighting and design suggestions. I want the game to look detailed but at the same time simple and create a calming and cinematic atmosphere. A game where you can take some nice screenshots in.
It looks really good. You have great detail in the build.
My main concern is lighting in the convenience store itself. The restaurant(?) to the side had great lighting and I wouldn’t change that one. While I understand that the dim lighting gives it more atmosphere, it doesn’t really make sense for a store.
It needs to be much brighter and maybe have a different tone. It could even be a mix of a white & blue or light yellow & blue. It looks cool, but it feels out of place in a location like this.
If you feel like making it brighter removes too much ambiance, you could always make smaller lights that have different tones/hues.
Thanks for the lighting feedback. I agree that the lighting does look out of place. I’ll try out your ideas. I’m pretty new to Roblox Studio, so I learned a lot while making this game.
Also the side area with the tables is supposed to be an eating area. Some Japanese convenience stores have a side area where customers can sit down and eat. I didn’t intend to add that area at the start but I mainly did it so I could add more special seat animations.
[Updated] I changed the lighting based on your feedback. Looks much better.
Inside looks great, no changes there.
Outside looks kind of bland. The vending machine just being there looks weird, and there is just a blank green and white top-area, which could have some text added.
