Made this for a friend who has sadly quit the roblox community. I tried out displacement and semi-advanced lighting for the first time. I also tried out godrays, but that didn’t go too well, so I removed them.
I love the way the light wraps around the outline of the character. Gives off the vibe of suspense leading up to a dramatic moment. The only thing that seems like it has room to explore some more is the source of the light. Something feels off about not seeing the source of the light and it feeling a bit like the light is coming from the darkness.
Thanks! I did plan on making something like the sky white so that it looks like thats the light source, but it hurt my eyes so I decided to just go with a black sky.
I think it looks pretty good for a first render but I’d suggest not going advanced for your first time. I tried doing this when I started and guess what, it always came out looking bad. Not sure if the displacement is supposed to look like voxels but if you want it to look smooth, use a higher resolution displacement map. I don’t really think have ever made volumetrics since it lags up my computer a lot and adds a lot of render time and I have just a decent pc but may I ask how you made the godrays?(since it’s not really visible) The background is also a bit dark so suggest adding an hdri or a background. I think the lighting is too good since it’s coming out of nowhere and theres no obvious light source it’s coming from (since you can’t see the godrays) Also suggest adding plants (you can get tons of them for free or paid from asset libraries so no need to model them yourself) other than that it’s pretty good for a first try
It’s good for a first one but the background after the horizon is just black, try using depth of field and underlaying a background to your advantage. Overall an 8/10.
